Best Cam Gear settings for 272s?

My tuner set my gears at (I) -5, (E) -1.5. I seem to be 10-15 WHP low on power. Is this a good setting for the gears or could new settings increase power? I'm in CA running 91 octane.

My mods: Utec, TBE w/CD, HKS 272s, Walbro, and MBC set at 22-24 psi depending on octane.

There is a recent post on which cams to buy. Ludikraut says -4 -1 for no idle issue without sacrafice on power

Most people do either -4/-1, -3/-3, or -2/-2

-4/-1 here with perfect idle...i am on powerfc(the one that uses maf)

from the thread i read in the past -4/-1 gives more topend power it's like 5-8hp but at -3/-3 it gives more low and mid-grunt i think through the low to low mid it's like 10 more hp. depends on your driving habits...supposedly gives a nice cam lope. silversurfer i think roadraced on each setting and found -4/-1 gave him better lap times.

enjoy those cams

The powerFC that uses MAF has a low airflow MAF limit feature doesnt it? (clamps the signal at a stable number at idle?)

I've been so lax on getting cams in my car.. I've tested a set of custom grinds that I wasn't happy with, now I have stock cams and will go to 280's.. I never had a chance to test 272's to give you guys an idea of what will work well.

280? I haven't seen any good results with them running on stock turbo. So you are upgrading to a bigger turbo soon? If not, stay with 272's and do more experiment on the cam timing setting... then give us feedback on your research liek what you usually do

I have a specific reason for running 280's, but its not due to a bigger turbo, well, its bigger, but still a twin scroll stockish.. But I have plans for alot of head work and a stroker engine. I liked the 272's but my gut is telling me the 280's need more research..
