Upgrades for my ECU Plus
I've done most of the research for one of these in an evo, I just need the loot.
A mini PC can easily fit under the driver's seat. HVAC controls are gay and are hard to move, so I decided (when I do it) to get a flipout monitor on the top radio slot and re install the headunit at the lower slot. Much easier to view and wont have to cut or grind to make sure the screen fits, also at that location cops wont be able to see it very easily.
Can't wait to have on board touch screen datalogging

My only concern is the harddrive. The spindle and motor will not last long in the car the way I drive :} I need some sort of SolidState storage device. Mybe one of those 4 GB USB key. hmmm.
OK, I snapped a few pics. My camera is a piece of crap, so the ones that try to show the screen well are either blurry or glared from the flash. I tried some with and without a flash, but you get the idea. It looks great in real life:
First a shot of the actual PC case...I pulled it out from under the seat so you can see.
Then here is a shot with it mostly back in...with it all the way in, you see no wires or anything.
One of the screen with GPS...blurry in the pic.
A good one showing the whole setup...screen looks dark here, but it is not.
Same shot with Windows desktop...again dark in pic, but not in person.

One of the screen closed....I have to get a trim piece still as the one for the screen doesn't fit properly.
Also a backup touchpad mouse, if the touchscreen has problems (like now, since I haven't installed correct drivers yet.)

No, it's actually from Ebay, and it's named by a few different model numbers. If you go to www.digitallww.com, it's the same one as the DW700M on that site.

Cool!
But what kind of storage are you using? and how do you mount it? spring loaded?
and is the desktop resolution are you running? Does it work well with ECU+ software? Can I have a screenshot of that too?
Thanks

I just use a laptop HD. The case that I use is designed for a laptop HD..it just mounts by screws, no spring loading or anything like that.
If you are worried, there are also MBs that support CF and other solid state storage options, but laptop drives should work fine.
The native resolution of a lot of the 7" screens are 800*480, so if you have a video card that supports that, it will look the best. I am personally running 800*600, I think. But you can run at whatever resolution that works best for your screen, application, etc.
I don't have an EMS for my Evo yet, so I have no screenshots of ECU+, but I might be able to load the software and take some later.
