Best tune for alky...non EMS

I'm sure this has been covered, and I've searched, but I'm still a little confused. I'm ready to add alky, but I don't have the funds to do a full standalone(AEM) along with all the needed tuning.

TTP Engineering: Suggested I run MAFTPro like their shop cars does using the 10.5 turbo + alky (highest HP on stock turbo)

TurboTrix: Suggested AEM, but the cheaper alternative suggestion was UTEC.

Warrtalon, along with a few others: Suggest just a simple dyno flash, from either Al@Dynoflash or TurboTrix.

My concern is reliability. I'll be driving the car to/from shows, and I'm sure some weekend driving once the Alky is in , but its not a daily driver at all. I'd like to have the choice of at least 2 maps; 1) for 93oct @ 21psi w/out Alky 2) for 93oct @~26psi with Alky.

Mods: in my signature. I will be installing the Zeitronix ZT2 AFR mete w/ datalogging.

Whats your suggestions/thoughts/ideas?

Thx
-Stephen

1. You should have started this thread in the Water/Alky Injection forum.

2. Any type of piggyback/EMS that controls timing and fuel with work for tuning alky. I also think that you can get a flash for alky (I beleive WarrTalon runs alky on a flash).
Now if you want to be able to change maps so you can have a 93oct. map and a 93oct.+alky map, you'll need an piggyback/EMS that has at least holds two maps at the same time. Here are a couple of choices that will work.....

Xede - can hold two maps and switch maps using a switch
UTEC- can hold five maps and switch maps using a switch
ECU+- I belive it can only hold one map but you can change to another map using a laptop.
AEM- I don't know how many maps it can hold or if it has map switchin'. Hopefull someone fimilar with AEM can answer.

If WarrTalon or Al come in we can see if its possibly to use a flash as the pump gas map, then use the "race chip" for a pump+alky map.

I honestly didn't get to dyno as often as I would have wanted during the mods process...I'm scheduling a dyno in the next couple weeks with the mods I have now, before I put Alky an Utec on.

Sorry that wasn't much help

kmcconn9, what's up with your signature? Is the 415+ a prediction of a tune on 3/13/06?

S2KStephen, if you intend to get a standalone eventually, don't waste your money on a piggyback. Just get a flash. You should be able to get a tune where you can turn down the boost and the alky consumption will go way way down, assuming you are using a progressive kit. If you are going to do a non-progressive alky kit, then it would be harder to go with a flash and you'd really need multiple maps.

You have unlimited maps with MAFTpro.
TTP Meth injection arm switch AUTOMATICALLY switches ECU map to 32psi (or preprogrammmed value), changes air fuel ratio and bumps timing. All you have to do is flip a switch and everything is done for you. No fumbling with map selector addon gear. No one with a UTEC has done anything like AEM or maftpro. In fact a ton of UTEC owners sell that unit for the MAFTPro like joeymia, luke w. and others.

TurboTrix: Suggested AEM, but the cheaper alternative suggestion was UTEC.
AEM is not a bad idea but is $1800-2200 tuned. MAFTPro is $600 with electronic boost control, fuel control and auto map switching.

Warrtalon, along with a few others: Suggest just a simple dyno flash, from either Al@Dynoflash or TurboTrix.
Warrtalon is sponsored by dynoflash and gets free flashes. What did you expect him to say? What is his trap speed?

My concern is reliability. I'll be driving the car to/from shows, and I'm sure some weekend driving once the Alky is in , but its not a daily driver at all. I'd like to have the choice of at least 2 maps; 1) for 93oct @ 21psi w/out Alky 2) for 93oct @~26psi with Alky.
Bam, you are there. I have customized the MAFTPro with the manufacturer specifically for map switching and meth injection.

Mods: in my signature. I will be installing the Zeitronix ZT2 AFR mete w/ datalogging.
I don't remember if you purchased the ZT2 from us yet or not, but we have them in stock as the authorized evolutionm.net Zeitronix dealer.
