Methonal is cheap ...$30 for a 5 gallon can of VP meth. I mix the meth 75%meth, 25% H2O.

For most it is about $35-40 per 5gal.

It is too lean when you are knocking or exceeding 950*c EGT in an exhaust runner.

How bad is tap water? I filled up w/ 100% coolant and some water from an outside faucet. I've had it in for about an oil change length by now. Should I flush it out again asap and how soon can it start to corrode the insides of the motor? (where the coolant flows of course)

Also, OT: what do you guys tune AF for during high load? If the OP is afraid of 11s, do you guys tune for 10? I tune my NA RSX, which is only 13.0 of course, and the FI K series people usually tune to 11 or 12 (11 AFR is less frequent though).

I ask because I am going to help my friend tune his EVO 9 w/ intake and 3" TBE.

evo 9's are very complicated to tune, especially with their 6 ignition maps and mivec control. it will be easy to tune the fuel maps, but thats not where all the power gains come from.

I too have found optimal gains with a 75% methanol mix and I keep my afr's on the richer side for daily driving with 11.6 down to 11.3 but I easily can lean them out more without any worries and the egt's remain within range...I do have to change my plugs regularly though...

Sorry to bump this, but I just saw his response.

6 ignition maps?

The RSX has 12 ignition maps, 6 for each cam angle 0,10,20,30,40,50, a set for both high cam and low cam.

Not to mention fuel maps for each of those cam angles on each low and high cam.

And variable cam angle (i.e. VTC)....isn't that what MIVEC is for Mitsu?
