well id say its acceptable, my car is running weird, i have a vendor here working on the email flash, im going to have to lower my boost down to 21 again, otherwise leaving it at 23.5-24 im knocking as high as 18 counts around 7100rpm and a consistent 6-9 from 6300 rpms so id say 1-2 counts is good, or you can pull timing one degree and possibly get none

To answer your original question regarding a wideband- it is used to measure your Air/Fuel Ratio, that is how many parts air: to 1 part fuel. This is extremely useful for tuning to adjust your High and/or Low Octane fuel maps.

However, without this guauge, one can look at knock sum to tune your high octane map- richening the mixture or adjusting timing when you see counts of knock.

If you see a count of 6+ knock, your evo's ECU will divert to the low octane fuel map as a safety net.

I'd say if you are not seeing any knock it is because you don't have any- meaning that your car is tuned well or perhaps you could lean it out more until you see knock counts and then adjust timing for maximum power.
