Who is tuned at 18psi?

I recall reading a post a while back by someone who tunes their own car and swears they make more power at 18psi than at higher boost. Now I can't find the post. I think they were in CA. Just looking for some more info. Thanks...

TTT

I can vouch for the OP. He is a straight shooter, and I'm sure he has searched.

Help him out if you can...

You are the OP... Maybe they got it set-up to hold 18 PSI from initial boost all the way to redline? Or was it that they could mess around with the timing more? I knew someone who set it at 17 psi holding, but that was to last longer in long track events and not go through motors, not for power.

IIRC it was in a thread where the pros and cons of more boost vs. more timing were being discussed. This guy said he had tested both methods and found he made the most power at 18spi.

I remember that discussion as well. Honestly, I've tried something similar and got the opposite results. Boost simply makes power on these cars. There is definitely a point of diminishing returns, but I doubt you'll ever see it on pump fuel or a normal street car.

IIRC, we finally got it out of him that his great power at 18 psi was in fact at redline. He was making it out as if he made more power running 18 psi all the way across the rev band. That was not the case.

it will make the motor last longer on long road corses where the driver is in the upper rpm's the whole race. but it wont make more power. more psi + more fuel = more power
