Which ECU?

Hey guys, I'm quite ready to buy an ecu for my jdm evo ix, the thing is that I don't' want a piggy back, I want a standalone unit, but I think that I'm confusing my self with all the reading.
Any recommendations?

My car is currently stock, but the car is going into the shop as soon as I get my "goodies/parts". I'm just waiting to choose an ecu so I can get all the parts in one shipment. I plan to get an exhaust system, ram-air intake, water injection system, and BC 272's.
Also I'm shopping for a turbo upgrade but I might just save my money to upgrade the clutch instead.

Maybe one of the Vi-PEC plugin for your IX or wire in if you prefer that. http://www.vi-pec.com/page_files/pluginecu.htm

A very nice ecu which have all you will ever need and alot more Also allows full control of MIVEC, dual maps, different boost in different gears, launch, flatshift, quicktune(works excellent together with Innovate LC-1)+++++
Also a very nice software which is easy to use and tune. Excellent support as well.

Did you guys hear of Link ECU? I got an email about the G3 and I checked out the website which has the "new" G4 model, I still wasn't able to get a price quote yet from any of the distributors.

I'm really not that familiar with ecu's in the first place, so I'm not going to throw my money on something and "hope" that it'll be worth the money and/or do the job better than another.

Motec and Haltec are quite $$$ (I found a motec dealer, and the figures were shocking), AEM isn't that bad price-wise compared to them from what I see on the www, but still from what I understand, link ecu should be much cheaper. Opinions please =)

Are you serious? For the sake of your pocket book, and your car, please find someone experienced and work with them.

yeah
its better to get an experience tuner to help you decide
cuz in the end
its the tuner that tune your car
so its better if u get an ecu that he is familiar with

MOTEC - doesn't have knock control - ie sux on a daily/street car.

Stay with the stock ECU - save yourself the money and get a bigger turbo or something. Just find a decent tuner in your area...

tuner is certainly more important than ecu
its like having a lousy driver in an enzo with a better driver in a evo keeping up with it

MoTeC is in the middle of rolling out knock detection as a dealer installed option. I don't know anything about how effective it is.

ECU UPGRADE= UNNECESSARY UNLESS YOU ARE GOING FULLY BUILT. WORKS will Tune off of your stock ecu. Invest that money in a different avenue first. Once you have a built motor capable of putting down 500+, then Id worry about the ecu.
