I'm using a P2 with 96 megs of ram and it seems to be fine. Older laptops will work fine as long as you have a light OS with very few processes running besides the logging software itself.

If you can find a laptop that has a serial and USB thats the one to have. I use the serial for Wideband logging and the USB for OBD2 Logging via EvoScan.

Acer Aspire 7 inch netbook works a treat for tuning, small, light and cheap.
No serial port though.

Serial to USB on the Acer Aspire one the serial to usb is cheap and that is what I use on my 10 inch screen. I bought the MSI "Wind" branded as Q from bestbuy for $400.00 and it is great. Sub 2lbs. with hard drive and 1 gig of ram for $399.00

For $100 more or $499.00 you could buy the Asus Eee with Solid state drive although storage is limited to 64 gigs more than plenty for tuning use.

Acer Aspire One is good and MSI Wind is similar do a search for reviews and you will see for yourself.

PS A used 12-15 inch laptop works also it all depends on what your priorities are relative to how much you want to spend.

All your Evo needs

Good luck
PsS I also have a 7 pound core 2 17 inch with 8800GTS for gaming
