How does ecutek work?

Just had tuner install on car. Said he lowered duty cycle to 30%. It sounds like a pulsing/fluttering sound when on boost. I am not clear on what ecutek is doing or how it is working. Can someone help me understand. I am an idiot when it comes to mechanics.

Rephrase question: I know it's software, but what is the fluttering or pulsing sound coming from wastegate or blowoff valve I now hear? Tuner was trying to reduce boost through Ecutek.

Thanks.

Sounds like you may have a faulty blow off valve. I'm no expert but I know that Without a BOV, the pressurised air being pumped into the engine by the turbo will have only one path when the throttle is closed: back through the turbo compressor. The fluttering sound is the sound of this air against the blades of the spinning turbo compressor as it tries to flow through it the wrong way. You obviously have a BOV. But it may be faulty. As I said, i'm no expert, so if I were you I would take it to your local tuner and have it checked out ASAP.

Update: I was incorrect. It's on EcuFlash & 3 port boost controller.

The clicking noise is the 3 port opening/closing which is nothing to worry about.
