Hi, Im seeing some unusual behavior from my Evo 8 while tuning. The Knock sum (count) indicator will stay at 0 until I hit boost, then it goes straight to 9 where it remains pretty much no matter what is done to boost level, timing etc.

Should I be looking at the sensor, or can something else cause this?

 

Your knock sensor is bad or disconnected. The straight 9 knock counts is almost like a CEL for the knock sensor. Your car will also automatically default to the low octane map. You should get a knock sensor cel sooner or later.

 

X2. Mine did the same when forgetting to plug it back in after a bunch of work to the car. Had me freaked out for a minute.

 

I think I will have to redact my initial parameters :P

I get 0 knock at idle, its gone as high as 36 during pulls, but it always stays at 9 at WOT.
