Datalogging Cable, Evocan and tuning

I'm sure this question gets asked a lot, but I've been an Evo owner for 5 days so please excuse my naivety. I am looking to get a obd2 cable to use to data log my Evo 9 and there seems to be several different ones out there. Yes I do know some Subi guys so I suppose I'll want the compatible cable. It seems like there is a general consensus that Evoscan is **** so no questions there. Any help or suggestions for a first time owner would be great, thanks!

If you want to log/tune/reflash both your 9 and subies then you'll want the 1.3U 16pin cable. You can get them many different places like evoscan.com directly or ebay and also the FS market here.

logging

If you want to log boost and afrs you'll also need a 3 bar map sensor assuming you have an 8 or 9 and a wideband.

thanks guys, I ordered the 1.3U cable. Someone mentioned to me that I could hack a tomtom unit and load evoscan and flash the car from it? I do have a wideband already on the car

any updates on this? I'm a new evo owner myself and just installed a wideband, planning on tuning myself.

I bought the 1.3U cable because Evoscan said it was faster at logging the Evo 9s and I really didn't have a reason to data log when not hooked up to a laptop. Depending on your wideband, you can wire it directly to the ecu by replacing the signal input from the rear O2 with the linear output signal wire from the wideband.

I also have the 1.3U cable & I removed pinned 9.

You dont need to hack a tomtom, this is what ive been using with great results!

http://www.microcenter.com/search/se...&myStore=false

The Winbook tablet is full Windows 8.1 & comes with a full size USB port.

I am personally using the TW801 with 2GB of ram. Its definitely not a powerhouse of a tablet, but I literally only use it for Evoscan so it doesnt need insane specs & it works well for a single task in my opinion.

What did you mean by pinned 9? I dont think the rear O2 slot was #9 on the ecu diagram, it was in the 60s or 70s if I recall.

I looked, but couldn't find the 801 model. I would be using it for just evoscan and tuning also. Did you mount this to display gauges or just pull it out when logging and tuning?

Are there plug and play 3 or 4 bar map sensors for these cars?

Not without tuning. The Evo X map sensor is 3 bar that bolts and plugs in and OMNI offers a variety as well that works the same.

I am currently tuning with Evoscan, do you know what exactly needs to be done to run the Omni 4 bar?

You must edit the ROM. You log with EvoScan and tune with ECUFlash.
