That's one way to force open loop.

The other way is to set those open loop tables to be in open loop at any load above 0 or 5, or some other low number. The car idles at 30-40 load, and load only goes up from there. Your car was in full time open loop.

Fack...well car idles at a steady 14.7 - 15.2 ish now and cruise is good...I know maybe it’s not the correct way but is it ok like this? at least for now? What can happen?

He probably adjusted those tables so that the car idles and cruises in closed loop now.

Could it be that with the o2 sensor not working the car went into open loop itself and after fuel trims started reading it went to closed loop?

By the sounds off it he just threw the 02 in and it was fine. which would make sense...

No.

Having a value of 5 across all tables was putting your car into open loop. loads under that value would be in closed loop, values above 5 would be in open loop. Considering your car Idles at ~30/40 load its always in open loop.

thats my cumbersome understanding anyways. Im sure Razorlab or someone can give a better more in depth explanation.

Can you share any logs with us from when the o2 has been replaced?

If it was set to run in open loop (which it was if you where running the ROM you shared) then the ecu didn't care about the front 02 sensor whatsoever. It could have been melted, dragging under the car, made out of ice cream, whatever.

Then how come changing the o2 sensor made the car run like it used to? I was looking at him on the lap top the whole time and I didn’t see him change those tables. I’ll see if I can get a new log and pull the rom. This cable I have is messed up so I have to wiggle and mess with it until it reads and sometimes means me sitting there half an hour just to get one log but I want you guys to see it because I’m curious to figure out what changed.

It started working because he changed the ROM at the same time you changed the O2 sensor.

Also, if the front O2 was dead causing you to not get O2 feedback, you would have had a code.

There’s some weird **** going on there because at first he was looking at the log and fuel trims were at 0. I started taking the spark plug cable cover off the valve cover and he said the trims started reading and couple seconds later they stopped. I started wiggling **** to see if it was a bad connection but nothing so we changed the o2 sensor and at first fuel trims were at 0 but then they started reading and been fine ever since. He said it was just the o2 sensor warming up. Idk. I never got a cel on the car.

What you're describing should have caused a code. Very odd if it didn't.

And, if your open loop load tables are what you posted, the front O2 shouldn't be on.
