Ok, im starting nother thread because this issue is going to drive me nuts. Car is an 04 evo 8 with evo 9 turbo, s2 cams, and full bolt ons. Im running open loop because i cant figure out the lean tip in issue in closed loop. Trust me ive tried everything. Im trying to get the car idling steady as possible and keep that lumpy idle. Problem is afrs hunt all over the place some times from 13s to high 15s. Does the same in closed loop. I adjusted the biss via sas evoscan. Ive tried all the tables. Hopefully someone has an idea on what i can try.
I had to play with my iacv tables quite a bit to get my car to idle steady and not surge. I finally found some good settings where it won't surge in any weather, hot, cold, ac on/off. I'm running more timing at idle also. I had to find a sweet spot with the biss also. Too open or closed will also cause issues in my experience. I'm using the 9653 rom.
Ronaldo can you explain what iscv tables you played with and what you did? I know people mess with the lookup table and ive seen some set it to just one number for most of the last column but would like an explanation. Biggie, i tried that and it doesnt work. Trust me, i messed with all the async tables and did the fuel map thing and nothing. Today i tried it again and what seemed to work was async accel vs rpm table. It seemed to work for like the first 10 seconds after starting and then went away. I tried it and took off from a start and it went rich instead of lean. Man, i was so happy thinking i figured it out. Car was like nope...and started going crazy lean on take off again and when engaging gears. I said **** it and went to open loop. Open loop drives great and smooth. Very fluid. Closed loop also feels sluggish. Theres something up there. Havent been able to figure it out. Would really like to get this idle thing figured out.
How are your fuel trims by the way? I'm still on maf so maybe there's differences with the speed density rom. Are you using an IAT sensor or fuel temp?
Well I wouldn’t say a breakthrough but I messed with the biss screw and got it to idle pretty nice. I noticed that it doesn’t like to idle towards the leaner side 14.9 - 15. So it idles around low 14s - high 13s and it doesn’t jump around as bad and idle is steady. Not super lumpy but you can still hear it. I guess maybe in closed loop with the help of the o2 sensor it may be better...
