engine light flashing
Does anyone know what it means when I see my service engine light flashing for 6 to 8 times? I read through the Autronic user manual but I can't find anything about the engine light flashing.
This board is not very active at all, where else can I find more info and help with my Evo8 Autronic?

Hi Mark S,
I have a couple different code. I have 2 flashes before the engine started.
8 flashes right after the engine started. After a few 8 flashes, it becomes 9 flashes. 9-flashes goes on for 2-3 times then there is no more engine lights.
Does it mean something to you?
Sorry for going off topic, does anyone in California using 91 octane with Autronic? I want to compare my maps to yours, since I experiences some major knocks in mid range (peak torque). I had to retard over 5-7 degrees of ignition timing to eliminate them.

They are error codes try the car with the Ignition on and alarm switched off ready to start leave like this until all flashes finished, Then count them and call where you got it from they will be able to tell you what the fault is.

when it flashes, it means you're in big trouble. That's immediate engine service code. Don't drive your car and go see your dealer or someone about that.
GO NOW!
any small engine codes like misfire or Lack of CAT will be stationary lit, but when the engine needs immediate attention, it'll start to flash.

Can you decipher you flash code correctly? If you can I will be able to tell you whats wrong or at least close to it. I have 2 evo's with the Autronic on it and my tuner is one of the top tuners in Australia that will know everything about it.
Switch your ignition off. then turn it on. Basically the flashes will be in 0.5 sec pauses in a series and goes off for 2.5 sec before the next set of flashes come on. If there is a multiple error, there will be a 3 sec break in between the first set of flashes for ex. 2-4 (3 sec pause) 3-4 ( 3 sec pause) 1-1 ( 3 sec pause etc..), This means you have 3 sets of problems ( just as an ex).
Easiest way, get a laptop, install the software provided with it and log on the ecu with the connector harness from the serial port of the laptop. Becareful, the ignition key has to be on before you turn on your laptop to register correctly. Once in it, go to Menu M2 or M3 and scroll down to Ecu error history and press enter. The log will show you all the error that has happened in the last few cycles.
Good luck!!
