Flash + utec?

I thought I read that some people are using a flashed ecu with utec for race program. When you switch to 100 octane program, do you have to manually adjust the mbc? I know that utec has the means to control boost but I already have mbc installed and a flash as well. Would it just be easier to remove the mbc and start over? Thanks.

Yes you would have to up the boost manually if the FBC is disconected..

It depends, if your happy with the MBC, then you can adjust it for your needs.. However one major advantage of the UTEC is its ability to control boost, so it makes sense to have one map (Map1) with just a boost control map, allowing the flash to control the rest.. then have a second map tuned for race gas... You can put the factory boost control setup back together... and you can control boost with the UTEC instead..

More I think about it, more it makes sense to remove the mbc and let utec do its job. Thanks guys. Anyone know the horsepower gain with 100 octane vs 93? Just thought I'd ask. I have seen gains with C16 but I'd like to keep my cat & O2 sensors.

The gains are in the more aggressive timing you can run with the slower burning fuel and the slightly leaner mixture.. Depending on how much additional boost (more air in the cylinder) the more power you can potentially make.. though I would guess if you run 21-22psi, a degree or two more timing, and slightly leaner mixture (12.0:1) you'd pick up 25-30 hp, thats just a guess though..

I really like the UTEC's boost control features, its there so I figured I'd might as well use it.. However I'm not too happy with the method that the factory uses for boost control and have been devising alternative control for it (GM Boost solenoid with an MBC as overboost protection) it seems that this alternative control would work best for better control, additionally aftermarket turbos would respond better to this since you have a greater range of control.

Does anybody know where the first restrictor pill located? Is it in the vacuum hose that connects to the wastegate actuator or the turbo compresssor nipple? I'm currently running the utec and trying to use its boost control feature, but I can't get my boost to go beyond 13psi. Before I have the utec, I used the greddy profect B II for boost controlling. The line configurations are much difference. I removed the stock vacuum hoses completely and install new lines. Now I'm trying to reverse the install back to stock, but have no idea where the freakin restrictor pill supposes to go to. Help?

Turbo compressor nipple.. if it were connected to the actuator you'd always get around 13psi of boost and have alot of difficulty getting it higher..
