question

is the turbo lancer going to be faster than stock even when not in boost?

cuz that would be nice to have a better push without the need to go over 3-4k rpm

doubt it... and if it is then it won't be by much. They haven't said much about when the boost starts kicking in, but I would suspect that with the low boost pressure (~7psi) it probably starts kicking in at fairly low RPMs.

yeah..since the cvts in D mode pretty much feels like a 90hp civic from 1 to about 27k

i would pray to god that it kicks in at low rpms

The RRM Turbo CVT is fricken awesome! You guys would love to hear the BOV go off on that thing. You can clearly hear the PSSSHHHH from over 50ft away. And talk about *****! This thing is dangling them out the window and slapping people as it flies by them! It's that bad ***!

Over all it looks like RRM was having a good day with the Turbo CVT. I don't think it went into limp mode at all today. I was talking to ROCK about it and other things today, and it seems the computer controlling the CVT is odd. Some days it loves going down the road, others it puts them into limp mode... They're still working diligently to solve the issue. You CVT guys should be happy you're getting this much love from anyone making a turbo for the Lancers.

any assistance putting some nuts on the CVT is appreciated. i knew there was too much crap with the electronics on this car. why does spend soo much R&D making a car that cant be modified without a ton of research and computer system bypasses.

The car ran solid all day. We took 6-10 for a ride without issues. Very cool. OThers will probably post on it.

I don't think Mitsu is necessarily trying to make their stuff uncrackable on purpose, but I could be wrong. I think it's more to do with the natural progression of things. As technology progresses, I would expect them to apply their best technologies (when they're ready) to their products in an attempt to make a better product. It just so happens that every so often the technology changes so drastically that everyone in the after market segment has to learn a new way to overcome old obstacles. This takes time, because not everyone (most actually) in the after market segment has the necessary resources readily available to figure out all of the new parameters.

Things would be a LOT easier if Mitsu made all of their ECU source code "open source". However, I do not expect them to do anything like that. They want to protect their technologies and trade secrets just as much as any other company out there. Additionally, I believe there are certain State Gov and Federal regulations in place that force car companies to make their vehicular computer systems as "black box" as possible. State and Federal governments don't want you going into your car's electronics and tweaking them either, because the computers in these cars are tightly integrated into the emissions systems and altering your emissions system is "illegal".

Reverse engineering takes time, as an example, take a look at what the guys had to do to figure out how to get into the HDD for the MMCS, and we still don't know what parameters we can actually change in that system.

^ great points. i sometimes revert back to my '86 Mustang GT days where you didnt have to worry about all the computer crap and expect everything to be easy.i also realize this car is still fairly new so it will take time.
