Your Personal Preference: Turbos

i wasnt sure where to put this at, its aimed at 08 lancer owners but not specifically about turbos more of a personal prefrence. im 19 i have owned 2 cars previously this being my first new car and also my first 4 cylinder so this is all very new to me. some of you may know i have a supra and used to have a turbo avenger untill it was wrecked. but back to the point, how many of you here are going to purchase a turbo system for your lancers? do you think it will be worth voiding your warrenty to do? both of my cars i had have been turbos and i never really had a really really bad problem with neither cars. and i also dont know too much about how warrenties work but basically if you do get a turbo will mitsu basically blame any problems with the car due to the turbo? my main question is how many of you here plan on getting a turbo and are willing to void your warrenty by doing so?

I will go turbo.
But not now.
Because I don't want a small gain.
I mean, I had about 400hp in my previous car, was really nice. the weight was 3200lbs. But to be honest before the last upgrade (330hp) it was still really interesting. So I figure out that to be truelly happy, I will need something like 300 in the lancer to get the same feeling (since it's a bit lighter).
Right now, I don't have 10 grant free to have this power (and the extra money in case of problem) so I'm gonna wait to see wich kind of kit will get out (if I look at the RRm one that is comming and he seems to tell it's near the evo.. I might reveal really interesting) but now no kit is officialy out.
And for the warranty, my idea is that if I go turbo, and something happen, they are gonna blame it for any break. That's another reason I'm gonna wait some years that the kit get 'perfected' and tested by some ppl so it's not gonna brea something, and be sure that my car is good.
So I'm gonna wait some time, my car dealer still telling me they are gonna offer turbo kit even if all ppl say no so.. maybe a surprise will come . But well, at this point, if the price is high, maybe getting a RA will be a better way (not here in canada it's so much more expensive that yours Usa but well..)
Because to be honest, why getting a 10year warrantly if you loose it so soon ? Yeah power is fun, but I'm not gonna spend that much money for something I can't use that much :S

In my opinion, you should wait a bit and let things evoluate more (not kit are out, not many devlopment except if you go custom, without a certain peace of mind.) when things will be more common you should consider thinking again.
(Wow i'm voluble tonight hahaha)

Not doing it. I think its better to trade this car and get the ralliart if you want more power so you can still have the warranty, a better engine with upgraded internals, awd and overall a better car which is ENGINEERED as a turbocharged car. No turbo kit will give you the same reliability as the one that it has been engineered by the manufacturer. And it's not like you save money with the turbo kit also (thinking in the long term, parts, labor, tuning, things that won't be covered by the powertrain warranty which will be voided etc)
Mitsy should had released the ralliart earlier.

Yes they should have... I watched a video on the RA earlier and they said the estimated retail is going to be $25,000. I paid $21,000 for my car fully loaded so for the extra $4k I would of gone RA in a hearbeat. I may be trading the car in, I want to buy a house though so that may put things on hold for a while but my monthly payments would be $25 more for the RA over 4 years.

my parents would have gotten me an evo they said the price of the car wasnt the problem its the fact that im 19 year old male on a tubrocharged car= HIGH INSURANCE, i remeber before i got the GTS i did a quote on an evo and it was an extra 450$ a month on top of what my parents are paying for my gts thats with no tickets, wrecks or anything

Well it was an old Volvo 850, not really sporty though.. but a sleeper I can tell you haha.. my only concern is the wheelspin. I was able to burn the tires at 100km/h on the highway, so I can't imagine your supra then ! And at least you where Rwd.. A lancer with this kinf of power.. I'm pretty sure you will be disapointed. If I knewed the Ra was comming that soon, I would had wait to get the AWD. That's the only missing part, because 235hp not gonna be enough, will need to be upgraded, and why pay for something you gonna change anyway ? lol.

25$/month only with the trade in ? I don't know for you, but my car was 24k. After the preps, the taxes and everything it's 33k ! I'm pretty sure I won't get that much for the trade in..
