The time has come to boost the lancer
Just came back from a local shop that made an oil feed line and new banjo fittings for the water lines and t- fittings for me. Also picked up new boost lines for waste gate while i was there. I think i have everything covered. I will have updates on saturday!
so, pulled out the turbo and gridded off the bracket that needed to come off and realized that it was missing the gasket from the o2 housing. that really pissed me off ! that would have been nice to know when i bought it. so I will be heading to mitsu service center first thing Friday so i can get one by sat. we'll see how it goes. I have a liquid gasket that Volvo uses for the turbo manifold. i will use it if i cant get a gasket by sat. Anyone ave a gasket they want to overnight to me?
o.k so realized that you have to cut the down pipe almost at the turbo side flange and weld a pipe from that to the rest of your exhaust. Since no muffler shop in town is open sunday or labor day my plan is to bolt up the mani and turbo, oil lines and coolant lines. then put a filter on the turbo open the wastegate and drive my n/a with a turbo hanging from it to the shop on saturday before 5 so i can have the down pipe fab'ed up and the i can finish the install with no rush.
sounds like a good plan to me. I installed everything and i was short of a downpipe so i drove to the muffler place and had them make me a custom one. Cost me about 50 dollars, but sure sounds a whole lot better than no dp.

Yeah if you're using the internal gate, just remove the actuator and it will just stay open while you drive it...building no boost. At least you'll have the downpipe made before the weekend right?
yeah. I really don't want to wait 2 days for the down pipe. that way I wont rush to get it all done in one day. I installed the fmu and did a mock up off the i/c pipping. oh.. and relocated the battery to the trunk. I may put in the fuel pump tomorrow if I have time after work. that way there will be less to do on saturday.

Yeah the fuel pump isn't hard, just getting to 2 of the nuts on the assembly cover are a pain. And I also just noticed one of my posts is on the computer in this pic lol, the avatar caught my eye.

And don't feel so bad about hitting all these snags with your 16G6 install. Every one of us had unexpected problems with our own install. Come to think of it, I don't think there is a user on this forum running a 16G6 setup that ran into zero problems during install. I guess it's a right of passage...
filter on the turbo intake. disable waste gate so no spool. its just so i can get to the muffler shop and back. I checked all my parts and ready for install. going to start at 8am tomorrow.
