no i was going for n/a build, everyone said the block wouldnt hold boost long in n/a subarus, i had every bolt on you could get though haha, lightweight pulley, 3 different intake setups, headers, testpipe, catback, road tuned, i cant even remember all the stuff i had done, alot was cosmetic. at the end of my build i planned on putting in 2000 grind cams and a rhino supercharger kit that they just came out with but i figured it wasnt worth my money and sold it and bought an evo

i guess it all comes down to what you really like but to all his own
Thank you for clarifying I just see soo many ppl say "why not just get an evo?" I like my lancer and everyone knows its a lancer it looks bone stock outside other than wheels tires and some different lights. Underneath is a whole different ballgame though... at least for being a lancer

should have done the ej20 turbo swap. soobs r the easiest to swap engines in cause it all uses the same mounts.

ya i hear ya there in the n/a soob world. the cylinder walls on an n/a are super thin...

alright back to myyyyyy thread guys!!!!!!!!

im tired of reading about soobs on here....

bad news is that something is holding my boost back, took the mbc off, changed the spring in the wastegate, but not getting more than 10 pounds. :/ and my idle motor sensor thing must be shot bc it hangs at 5k rpm....

at 7 psi on the dyno im at 191 with the timing held back. i have to figure out how to get more boost and then go back next week to redo it.!!! but its still a very fun ride. spool is much louder now and the higher rpm pulls are way better

gotta get to atleast 15 pounds

my clutch finally shipped out yesterday too

Sounds pretty close. Zulu is now running 10:1 CR so he will gain more HP per psi than our stock CR of 9.5:1

Zulu just outta curiousity do you know what timing your running now at peak torque? I have always thought of my timing being lower than it should like your buddy was saying when I was talking with him, even if it is a stock internals motor and all

Does boost climb up to redline, or do you hit 10psi early on? Also, any boost leaks?

Also, why did you go with slightly higher compression, and most people recommend lower than stock compression. I thought that higher comp would make sense, and everyone said lower was better for boost....so I'm just confused on that.

on pump gas, Lower compression is safer, less heat, less chance of detontation. higher compression u can get away with if your not pushing much boost, IE 10psi is not much boost for a built motor.

(current newer trend with EVOS are 10.5:1 compression, but running e85 instead of 91/93, yielding alot better power)

the higher compression setups do make more power psi, but can not push as much psi with the same fuel because of heat. with alot people using e85 and other higher octane fuel, there are more and more people going to a little higher compression for street setups, and they still push the same amount of boost(so they do make more power). really does depend on your setup, powerband, and what you want to make in the long run..

with 10:1 compression,(and our motor) he would never be able to run high boost (Ie 20+psi) without switching to a very high octane fuel. Many People have done higher compression turbo setups on our cars and failed because they thought it would make better power at high boost but did not take the correct steps to run it.

Lower compression setups are ideal for turbo applications because it is less stress on the motor at the same PSI.. thus giving u the ability to run more boost.. adding even more possibilities much higher with higher octane fuels because the motor can handle much more abuse..

cars that stick to pump gas will normally stick to low compression, and if there running race gas, they normally end up pushing a LOT more boost..
for a street car, Daily driver, U can really use whichever you would like.. lower is safer but you could potentially push more boost then u can with high compression turbo setups, higher will make more power at the same psi but you are limited on how much boost you can run.

10:1 isnt that high really.. im running 9.5:1 (stock compression) on my setup. and all my buddies lancers are at 8.8:1.. i went with 9.5 cuz ill be runing very high boost, but ill be on e85 or race gas only, if i were to go with 10:1 or higher i wouldnt be able to use cheater gas more then likely

running 15 pounds right now and loving every second! builds 15 pounds and holds it through the rpm, i dont go passed 5 k bc i dont need to. gonna get a video up soon. loving the higher boost and being able to hear the turbo wind up good. power doesnt drop off but instead increases with the rpms, feels like a soobi.....:/ hmmm its just such a different car. i do have some boost lag now though but thats prolly normal. 2nd gear will pull but then at 4500 5000 just let loose.
