custom turbo
this one goes out for mitsuman or ROCK.....i might be able to get a 16G turbo, and maybe some deals for people who might want one.....but i need to know if this turbo can be put in, in place of the t-28 turbo you guys are installing, can the 16G be put it? and will you give me a better deal if you can and no turbo of your own is used?
Turbo Fitment
Our manifolds are specifically designed to house the Garret ball bearing series and matches there diameter size, offset etc to clear both the engine block and radiator even with the use of slim line thermo fans.
Firstly you could not fit up a non Garret adapter to the manifodl IE the 16G turbo and secondly the size of the turbo - Ie physical dimensions would mean it would be hitting somethign on the engine block / radiator etc.
Finally that size turbo woudl produce significant turbo lag and would only be really suitable for higher boost levels where the garret range we are using has the capability of running low boost with virtually no turbo lag along with higher boost for high horsepower settings.
We could make a manifold for you to run that size turbo but you would need to sent the turbo to us and we would have to re design the turbo here on a car.

that size turbo? are we talking about the same turbo here because where i come from the t28 is a small turbo with pretty much no lag. Also what is considered high boost levels, because i consider high boost to be 25-30 psi.
The GT-28 is not a small turbo. It is rated to 300 / 350hp and quite capable of 20 psi boost with no loss of efficiency.
350 hp at the flywheel would be the 270kw at the flywheel - if you are getting that much from the vehicle then it would be near undriveable. It would also be around 270hp at the wheels or 207 kw at the wheels.
So why would we class the GT-28 as too small?
There is a next size up Garret called the GT-25R which i rated 300 - 400hp but I would be extremely surprised if you needed to go to that size turbo.
Remember our garrets are the ball bearing units not the non ball bearing design found in your USA stock vehicles so there efficiency is a lot greater as is tehre capability of high horsepower.
To give an example a non ball bearing garret T-28 turbo is rated to around 250 hp with larger turbo lag so it is not even in the same league as its ball bearing counterpart.

ok, i still believe that the t28 is a small turbo, i have a pick of my new turbo next to my stock t25 and it is a lot bigger. The non ball bearing t28 is not rated at 250 flywheel because i tihnk the t25 can make about 250 at the wheels, i bet you could make about 300 at the wheels on the t28. Also i dont consider anything under 3000 rpms lag. I barely notice mine at 4000. and what do you mean undriveable?

Mitsiman is correct about the ball-bearing T-28. It has just a bit better rating than a regular T-28 (non-ball-bearing).
IMO, a T-28 is small but ball-bearing does make a difference in spooling the power effectively.
The trick is "how much HP are you willing to bring the lancer up to your spec?"
T-25, T-28, T3, T3/T4, and T4 (absolute max w/o going too crazy and making it a total drag car, undrivable in street format because of lag. Also, look for room in the engine bay).
The higher the turbo = more $, HP/TQ, lag in lower rpm, higher top end speed, and tuning issue. Going to spend at least 2.5 to 4K to get it right. All that HP w/o tuning it properly will blow up the engine from lean condition at higher rpm.

Talk of 250 -300 hp "CAPABLE" turbos are great. Need to support the engine to achieve this though. Ball bearing are better though, but more expensive ! People say small turbo... big turbo. They are not always talking power. THey are talking physical size too. Size and configuration can make it difficult to fit in engine bay.

i can understand that it might now fit in the engine bay, but what i dont get is why? because it fits in nearly all other mitsubishi vehicles....for god sakes mitsubishi created the damn things and their awesome turbos!

Currently, in the market, there are a lot of flange adapters for Garrett style TC'ers. As for Mitsu designed turbos, it's not that popular, except for some DSM'ers going the route of "Frankenstein".
Also, you have to use their manifold for the TC'ers . . . highly doubt a 4g63 manifold bolts right up to the 4g9x block.
