Cool Oh Look another Turbo Thread - RyanCB's turn.

The Build.....

Well it started off thinking I was going to stick with just a used RRM Stage 2 Kit+Camshaft that turned into nothing but a PITA with it being misrepresented when I bought it by the seller. Thankfully the seller has finally fixed most of the issues with the exception of the downpipe and 440cc injectors. I am still waiting on the fuel pump from him but he states it was shipped the other day so we shall see. I was able to pick up the 440CC injectors of NASIOC for cheap so I let that go. And since he had hacked the downpipe in half now im stuck with either dealing with paypal or getting a custom exhaust. RoadRace wants $300 for a downpipe which is crazy when a full custom would cost that much. So now the list starts. Let me know what I am missing and your thoughts.

1 - RRM Exhaust Manifold with 16G setup - Installed
1 - External Tial WasteGate - Installed
1 - 4" K&N Filter (Washed & Renewed) - Installed

1 - Prosport Halo Boost Gauge - Installed

Hopefully everything goes well have this installed and ready to tune in next month.

PS Big Shout out to 03lances for willing to help me with this build! Wouldnt be happening without his help.

Note the grove on the inside of the compressor cover?

That big C clip ring slips inside of that. Essentially you place the cover on the turbo and then squeeze the c clip into that grove. It holds it in place between the back of the compressor and the groove, note that the c clip is already in the right place in your picture.

First though.. fix that turbo a blown oil seal wont get you very far.

Interesting how can you tell the oil seal is broken i was going to get it inspected but this will likely go onto the paypal dispute as well if thats the case.

Before you dispute it, it would be best to just install it and see if it works properly. I suppose it could be just normal oil blow by that got into the intake like how they have it setup stock on an evo. There wouldn't be any sure fire way of knowing without hooking to some source of oil pressure and letting it sit for awhile.

The other way you can tell is if the hot side of the compressor is covered in oil. The only way that would happen is if the seal broke.

Well I plan on getting it inspected this week just waiting to hear back from a couple shops. Couldnt I disconnect the hotside via that other clamp to verify that?

Also is it me or the fins slightly bent?

I had another thought Ryan. Pretty sure that empty threaded hole there is for coolant line. Some people just plug it but either way your going to need something to plug it or IMO get the lines for that. The stock ones look like this, not the best photo of them I know but just to give you an idea...

Its easy to tell which is the oil line and which is coolant.

For one the coolant line is physically larger than the oil port. Secondly the oil port has the drain flange on the bottom side.

The fins do look slightly bent probably when however took off the cover didn't do it carefully. Wipe down that cover and inspect it for scratches and see if the turbo's bearings were loose enough to collide with the cover walls.

Orderd new intake, exhaust, thermostat, water pump gaskets, timing belt today. Got the new stainless line from hose of hose and my barb fitting for the oil pan as well as headlights. I think try and get all the electronics done this weekend. (Swap headlights, wire gauges, etc) so that the easy stuff is done. Motor should be here middle of next week. Clutch/TOB/LIghtweight pulley/ solid motor mounts should show up monday. Fuel pump suposidly any day now. Turbo looks like it does need a rebuild after taking it 2 a couple of shops here so not thrilled with this and that seller bought this kit from. Really need to pressure test IC. He seems to believe UPS will cover his poor packing job...Anyways if anyone sees water lines that look correct please let me know. I dont think RRM's kit normally does them but if I have the parts might as well. Also is there anyway to tell for sure a turbo is genuine and not a ebay knockoff? Thanks!
