yes pretty much, first head i used to swap over last summer on a stock block came up to 45cc and i gave me a compression of 8.5:1 with stock pistons.

when i ripped the motor out of the car and decided to rebuild it due to wiped out main bearings. we found out out that my valve guides were all cracked and i didnt wanna replace them so i gave my spare sonata head to the machine shop and i asked him to cc it for me to make sure it was the same volume. he confirmed that it was 45cc as well. so i used that to accomplish my desired compression of 9.5:1

a side note. i noticed that you installed ARP main studs without getting the block line bored. i was told that is a big no no when u r changing hardware and that u must get it line bored.

Gottcha.

And your right I didn't line bore it. I line honed it. The entire block has been fully machined. Top to bottom. Some things I may have forgot to list but that doesn't mean I haven't done it.

you realize a 4G64 is essentially a 4G63 with a larger bore, right? I find it hard to believe you're having any trouble getting parts for a 4G64, as MANY Evo owners use 4G64 block to build stokers...the only conceivable thing I can think of why anyone would want to swap to a 420A, without already being stuck with a DSM that has one, is that because the engine was used in a DSM, there are plenty of bolt ons and turbo kits available for them, so people with 420A's could pretend they had a legitimate eclipse/talon, when really, you could just 4G63 swap it, and it would be better from the get go...6 and 7 bolt 4G63 engines bone stock bottom ends can make 450-500hp, no problem...try that in a 420A. would consider a straight up 4G63 swap long before I would even think of a 420A. You could even put a 4G63 head on your 4G64 and, watch all of your problems go away, mind you the 4G64 bottom end is not any stringer than a 420A.

what parts are you looking for?

Simply put, NO! Evo cams will not fit non a 4g64 head. They're completely different heads. The g64 is a single cam head while the 4g63 is a dohc. You could run either an Evo 8 head or a g5js dohc head from an Hyundai Sonata and then you could run Evo cams.

I was under this assumption as well and was going to pretty much say what you did, however I discovered there is a DOHC 4G64, although I imagine it's fairly hard to come by, and the chances of the EVO camshafts fitting are still a crap shoot.

I would strongly recommend sticking with the 4G64 for the reasons mentioned here. The 4G64 bottom end can be built just as the 4G63 can; you essentially have access to all the aftermarket support the EVO has, and if you're willing to build the rotating assembly up, you might as well source an EVO 8 head and benefit from improved flow and forced induction potential.
