25 years for classic car status last I checked. Same goes for importation rules.

Cool beans, Vince. Glad to see everything's going well.

thanks and i am really happy with it so far.

trapping 90 mph on a 93+ degree day is alright with me.

hopefully i will go to a track with traction and play around with a torque converter someday.

Sorry for getting a little pissed about this subject but i'm so tired of it. You baught a non-turbo'd lancer. If you wanted the speed should have gotten something else. Otherwise your forced to mod the car around legality. It's done everyday.
I understand your issue with people *****ing about the elusive CARB sticker, but...

I believe not but a few months ago RRM as well as you were promising that the kit would soon be CARB legal, and that people should buy before the prices went up. (Which I never understood, but thats a whole different point) I think it is because of past comments about certification people are now wanting to know what the deal is. As far as your comments go, I dont think they demonstrate a good business sense from RRM. (IF you work for them or not, you represent them is almost every way) Yelling at potential customers is not proper, because unfortunately in business the customer who pays for the product is always right, and the reason businesses survive. Im not trying to be a dick, just trying to offer some insite as to why people keep bothering you. Either way, keep the good work up, us auto owners will soon have the power to back up the decent lil Lancer.

it was never promissed by rrm, however they did look into and spend over $3000 dollars in getting their kit certified. It is still in the works however focus has been placed elsewhere. How do I know this? I was doing the CARB cert on my car.

Like Boe I dont really work for RRM i just help them out sometimes so often times i get pissed with people constantly bombarding me with requests and comments when I am still trying to learn too, I dont know hardly anything then people get pissed when I dont answer them.

So I hear and feel what boe is saying.

I'm not complaining about smogging the car but even smog has it's limits... people want everything to be legal we in racing that isn't going to happen.

A STAGE 2 kit can never be smog legal as you need to take out the cats. But everyone wants it to be still... like a magical wand can be waived and it's done. Then they attack it and say that they aren't going to get it due to that. Well customer or not thats a BS answer.

If you want speed you have to give a little. All these NA guys running around with a header... guess what they won't pass smog if it's seen. Especially if the cell light is on which happens with the header.

Customers demands are great but sometimes overboard. Since i don't work for RRM i share some freedom with being able to say what i feel about things. Just like Tristar can say what he feels like. If it hurts RRM's business by a few customers they'll survive as those customers will be replaced by the guy buying his lancer tommorrow. People just need to wake up a bit and see that it isn't going to go their way without a little give for their take!

Tristar... thanks for the feedback and the props.

Guru... i forgot to mention the temp outside. I live in a basic desert area... it was 94 at 10:30am. By noon it's over 100 and by 2pm its about 103-105. It's a dry heat so it's not that bad though. Sucks for doing 1/4 mile pulls though.

Kid Lancer... lots of places that do auto tranny work can get you a different torque converter but that isn't the end of it. You'll need to beef up your hydraulics and maybe add a few clutch pucks. Total cost is about 5g's at most places... i've seen some charge about 2g's but the trannies don't seem to last that long from them.

torque converter with valve body can be done from www.levelten.com they will charge you about 2gs and thats just for 1/2 what boe just said the clutches are what get really expensive. the torque converter and valve body are more than enough imo for anything you do to your lancer. i'd get the torque converter and then maybe later on get the valve body

edit: i know its not on their website but i have called and spoke with them and they will make one for our car

So know one has found a good transmission shop in CALI, that can do all the stuff that's needed to upgrade the auto tranny

i would go ahead and do the tq myself with levelten but they want like 700 bucks to rework an old one when they sell new ones that are billit for 500. sounds not so fair to me.

on a related note(the note being the stage 2 auto) i heard its not going to be released like ever!!! is this true?? someone at rrm said such a kit didn't exist as i was told. i was told 3rd hand so i am just stating the basics of what i know, not trying to start rumors.

word has it to me that rrm denied even the existance of this kit and said one will prob never be released.

as i said how true this is i do'nt know but GOD KNOWS I DON'T WANNA BELIEVE IT!!!!

what exactly is different in this kit from the original and would it be cost effective to upgrade to this later??? that would help me a lot.

thanks
alex

Go Stage 1 first then Stage 2 if you like. Third hand news is not news. It will be released. We are getting test miles in though to make sure it will be goo for a while. THat is what we are doing now. Guru and Boe are allowed to make updates on info but I am the one who decides if it is worthy. It is done but not ready for release until I think it is ready.
