ok correct me if im wrong but the evo8 uses somewhere 19psi(i think) to get to 245whp, but out lancers need like 10psi to get to 240whp i think, so if we rebuild our engines and put our turbos at 19psi howmuch would we get??? so in all actuality our engines are better non turbo than the evo engines????

panther, the evo engine is lower compression so in NA for it isnt very impressive. However it is built for boost so it is a bad-a-s-s under boost.

ya but if it takes them like 19psi to get to 240whp whereas it takes us 10 then our engines really are better...

i mean if we run like 19 psi like they do (ofcourse with heavy internal mods) we will make way more than stock evo runing at 19psi....

19psi on a built lancer motor is still BOOM unless you drop compression. Even with race gas at 9.5:1 your coming close to the limits above 15psi. Higher compression does equate to more hp/tq per lb of boost but there are tuning limitations. Also factors of knock/map sensors and ecu mapping are totally different on the non-turbo lancer. Only way around them is by tuning around them or going full stand alone... even then your still suffering from mechanical limitations of compression ratio, rod bearings, vlvs, pulleys, etc.

i don't think that you can say our engines are better than evo engines, it's more like to a certain capacity (in this case being between 5 and 11psi or whatever the most is being run about now) our engines respond well to the amount of boost that we can put into without doing extensive tuning such as standalone and internals. u can't say that evo engine is weaker than 4g94, its like comparing apples and oranges.

true... very true hotshot.

It is trully a whole other class. An evo can boost 30psi a regular lancer... i don't think we'll ever see that. 15-20 maybe but not more than that.

how would the NA lancer compare to the Evo in terms of whp/tq at 15-20 psi compared to the evo's 30? just wondering? because like you said...completely different class...

I've estimated that around 15psi on race gas we should be close if not just over 300whp/wtq. At 20psi if decompressed we should be able to see about 350whp/wtq although the torque will drop when you decompress.

An evo on stock motor at 30psi is roughly 500+whp.

ok ok, but sence we are not going to be doing pro drag (atleast im not) i dont think i would go over 15psi, but then again if u go that high u would have to factor in alot of other stuff also so our hp would really be more than 30hp. but that does make me wonder....

Any chance you can figure out a way to keep it legal for those of us who actually have to have yearly inspections? I can't go removing any of the friggin emmissions crap.

raven, sorry i dont think stage 2 can be smog legal due to the need to remove the cat in the header.

More updates after this weekend (work has been killing me lately, but i drive the car everyday boosting 8-10 psi everyday).

Lemme tell ya, it feels good so far, just a few more quirks to work out.
