stage 1 you arent smog legal, atleast in CA, due to visual inspection. Other parts of the country without inspection you can pass with stage 1 and presumably stage 2 with your 2nd cat in

I haven't been smog legal for over 2 years now... everyone is so bent on that. STAY NA then. Also don't ever get a header or test pipe for that matter. Don't get anything ever... that way you are always legal.

Sorry for getting a little pissed about this subject but i'm so tired of it. You baught a non-turbo'd lancer. If you wanted the speed should have gotten something else. Otherwise your forced to mod the car around legality. It's done everyday.

Panther... visually no so thus it won't pass.

2B... most auto lancers i've seen run high 17's to low 18's stock. When non intercooled i've seen them pull low 16's and high 15's on stock tires. Taking 2seconds off in the quarter is a massive improvement. The fact that the STAGE 2 may take another second off is even greater. Auto's are not the fastest thing around. When they get about 5G's put into them they can be faster than a manuel but stock they are slower.

ohfg!! basically get this thing done!! i am so excited that monday i am gonna call and start putting money down (if i can) on my turbo. essentially layaway. i don't know if rock will let me but i am doing it. i figure they will cuz it will help fund their research until compleation and then bam alex gets the finished product ready to go!!!

on a side note. i am thinking about going ahead and getting this tranny cooler. i figure it won't hurt. should i ??? i am also gonna get an oil cooler for the heck of it, or should i ?? some response would be great.

thanks
alex

oh yeah and about that smog stuff. i am not an expert but.... if you take ur car to a local shop, here in indy we don't have any inspection whatsoever, but take it to a local shop and have them custom make a new exhaust that has 2 cats and u should be fine. when u have inspection say your old cat broke and these parts broke and this was an easy fix and u should be fine. the point is the car started with 2 cats and still has 2 cats. thats all cali cares about but then again what do i know.....

edit:
option 2
wait 30 years and have your car become a "classic" and then it won't have ot pass emission tests lol i know for sure they don't anymore cuz i saw it on tv hayucck! lol

well we did more work yesterday and i think we got it really damn close.

I mean this thing hauls. I am now driving without any issues, no flat spots no nothing.

I will be cruising for another few tanks of gas before I will say it is ready and we may re-work some stuff but who knows. All I know is this is so much better than it was.

Oh yeah and Boe, next time we race up the hill wait for me to gun it before you take off hahaha

It wouldn't have mattered... you can't compete with this!!

I was impressed that you could go that fast though. The auto is scary now... really scary!!

we did some pulls... got consistant 88-90mph 1/4 pulls. Did about 10 of them. That's in the 14's but poor GURU just couldn't get the car going so we ended up seeing low and mid 15's. Definately the tranny is holding us up(the launch sucks). The torque converter needs a higher stall. I'd like to see a 2600-2800 but hell the mph says it all!

The car is awsome, especially on the highway, if GURU gives the thumbs up in a few weeks i think we just may release it. If there are any hickups then we'll have to correct them and delay things. Good luck GURU and definately congrats on a nice RIDE.
