Custom Fiberglass enclosure in trunk PIX!!
Yes, that seems like alot of work to just say "--ck it, I'm selling this stuff". You've gotten several really good ideas on this thread on how to improve your system. Perhaps if you took some of the advice you'd be happier with your system.
well when i was putting it all together i was just going for looks but after it was all done and i heard it i wasn't too satisfied. After hearing all the stuff about cancelation on this thread i decided that i i wanted my system to look good and sound good i would actually have to change it. This is my idea for my next system...thought i'd ask just to see if i would have any cancelation problems or what...
-Two JL Audio W6V2(~400RMS) in a sealed wedge box set back in the trunk so it is sorta aiming up into the trunk lid.
-Two JL Audio e1400D(~400RMS) molded into the corners of the trunk where i first had the two kickers.(one on each side)
-Either a really big cap or another batt.
lemme know what you guys think.

although personally i have never used one, but i have heard many good things about batcaps. they are some capacitor battery hybrid that some guy invented for car stereo. sentinal or billace may know more about them then myself, but i guess they hold the charge of a battery but have a discharge rate close to a cap. thus making them like 50 farad. they are not to expensive either, in the 150-250 range. look it up sometime, it may be an alternative to getting a second battery.

Batcaps do work well. A regular "stiffening" cap has the advantage of discharging very quickly. All caps have the same voltage potential, it will have the voltage of the item it's connected to. In a car that's the battery ( a capacitor too). The big 5,15,50 Farad caps don't help audio much because they discharge too slow, similar to a car battery. A Batcap will have the speed of discharge making it worthwhile. Either that or the tennis ball can looking "stiffening" capacitors work well.
on the topic of electrical systems... do the big 3!!!!!!!
i did 2/3 today, and it helped drastically. i also have a 2.4 farad cap.
the big 3:
1. add wire from battery negative terminal to chassis
2. add wire from engine black to chassis
3. add wire from battery positive terminal to alternator (FUSED!!!)
i did the first 2 and it helped BIG TIME with dimming and voltage drops.

to be completely honest i think 4 subs is a little much, you can get really good sounds out of one sub, two is nice also, from what ive seen u have some decent fiberglassing skills, maybe just go w/ one or two and put together a killer enclosure. By the way i like ur old set up except for the sub in the middle it woulda looked really clean w/ the two on the side

dude if u rear window breaks im gonna laugh...im gonna laugh so hard! but i doubt it, cause that setup is alittle to amatuer for my blood! congrads on the stuff and GOOD effin LUCK! u need it bro, especially with all that stuff
I dont hink you should have used carpet to cover the fiberglass, you should have taken more time, if you have it, and sanded and painted it to match a theme you were going for such as red to match the neon you wanted. I mean if that is the look you are going for, custom.
Everyone has to start somewhere, good job on what you have. I am not one to talk though i havent even attempted to fiberglass my own pods yet but is something i have been wanting to do, good job on the pods!!

as of now my center enclosure is no more... all i have left are the two on the sides...i've decided to go and get two 10" JL Audio W6V2's or w7's along with two JL audio e1400d or a single 1000/1 amp. what im thinking pof doing is making a fiberglass box for two of the 10 inches and a fiberglass a false floor so i can put hte amp underneath it with a clear window cutout. . i wanna make it the same color(white) as the trunk without the carpet but i'm not really sure if it's such a good idea to remove the lining... anyone have any ideas or has anyone done this b4?i tried to make a pic in photoshop so you guys can get an idea of what im talking about ..sorry for the horrid quality.
