sub help

If a speaker needs 1.25 cubic ft. and the box only has .93 cubic ft does it make a big difference.

Shouldnt make a HUGE difference... but yes your sound will be "tighter" and less powerful.

if it fits it will make little difference...but if a speaker says it needs that much space it may not phyiscally fit in anyhting smaller.....check before you buy.

I was just looking at the specs on my subs (12in Polk-Momo) and with .88 cubic feet it gets around 70dB of sound.. and with 1.25 cubic feet it makes around 90dB of sound. That is a very big difference. Try going to the manufacturers website for who makes ur subs and download the spec sheet, or look on the box or in the users manual.

the recomendd air space is "tuned" for a certain freq. you can use a aperiotic membrain or pillow stuffing to "trick" the sub. why dont you just mount it backwards?
typically, the basket displacement is between 250 to 350 for 12 inch subs......

typically when a manufacturer gives you a box displacement it is accounting for the sub displacement. so i doubt you ahve to worry about that.

it would make a diffence. i box i bought was a little bit smaller about .3 and i felt a big diffence in sound from the box i made. if it is a sealed box. i would put alot of stuffing in it.

you could actually damage a sub if you place it in too small a box, all this talk of mounting it backwards, putting stuffing in the box to "trick" the sub is all crap. get a box with the internal volume recomended by the manufacturer.
