Am I missing something? (trying to install stock HU back)

I made a post awhile ago about my eclipse HU sometimes not being able to read discs sometimes.. well, a couple weeks ago it stopped reading them at all so I had to get it uninstalled and sent to Ontario for repairs.. which will take 3-6 weeks..

I thought I could just plug the stock one back in but there seems to be a problem. The harness that plugged into the Eclipse was rectangular in shape, the stock HU is this weird really messed up shape.

Ive never done anything like this before. Am I peicing some special Mitsu adapter that the audio store probably took when they installed my deck?

Ill post pics later if needed.

when they installed the aftermarket HU they needed an Eclipse wiring harness (cuz not every headunit is the same) so they probably cut out the old one and connected the new one. If i were them i would have left the old harness plugged into the old headunit so that you have it if you ever need it but they might have thrown it away. You're either gonna need to wait for your HU to come back. or get your hands on a stock mitsu harness, shouldnt be too hard, and connect that yourself. If you do that though then you will want to be very careful where you cut.

When most places install headunits, they get a harness (A) to plug into the stock plugin. They then use the harness that came with the headunit (B) to hardwire to the (A) harness that plugged into the stock plug.

Stock (plugs into) A.........A (hardwired to) B..........B (plugs into) aftermarket deck.

Always ask for the original harness back, always. This is why...

I went through the same thing when I reverted back to my stock deck. I went to the dealership to get a harness for the stock deck, and it's one piece through the firewall. I unplugged the aftermarket harnesses, and was able to plug, what was left, into the stock headunit.

If whoever installed the aftermarket headunity did cut the stock harness off, then he really made it harder for you in the long run. Professional installers will normally get a harness to plug into the stock harness (i.e. a Schoche harness or from Crutchfield http://www.crutchfield.com/S-yVoakmY...00&I=120707001 )

^^Do I have to get these from the crutchfield site. Or would local audio stores(or the dealership) have it in stock?
