Custom Fiberglass Trunk

EDIT: UPDATES AND MORE PICTURES THROUGHOUT THE THREAD!!!

Hey everyone.. been a long time since i have posted.. anyway... this week me and my friends were bored and i thought we would undertake creating a custom fiberglass trunk.. My first thought was just fiberglass sides... So that is where we are at right now.. But we are going to go a different route and old a 10" sub on each side into the lining to make it a seamless box on the side of the trunk and an amp rack will be fiberglass at the back of the trunk with the floor being redone so it will have a handle and u will lift it up to reveal the spare tire... But on a side note.. my friend still has the mold he made for the lining of the trunk and if anyone is interested in fiberglass trunk sides let me know and he will make then for you for a decent price.. Here are pictures of the driver side lining we just took off the mold, i will have the passenger side this weekend...

well let me know what u think.. i been doing the fiberglass work on my trunk (well learning lol) but if you want my friend to do yours he will do them since i'm not as good as him yet..

Thanks!!

Just a small update... i added more layers of glass and then also made the ring for a 10" sub and attached it to the fiberglass. I then put the fleece (sp??) on tonight and we put the resign on it tommorrow and hopefully have this side finished up by end of this week and will then begin on the passenger side... The hardest part for me so far was cutting the ring.. its not a perfect circle (thats why i didnt show a picture) but my friend said it is still good to use. Everyone is tellign me i'm doing a good job on my first fiberglass piece!!!

more pictures to come soon!!

Thanks!!

i like it. i think im gonna do that eventually because i have holes in the stock side carpeting stuff from a strut bar. looks hella ghetto. i'd buy one if the price was right, but seems like it would be alot cheaper to do it myself. i just hate being itchy because of it [fiberglass].

hint for you. I do this for money on the side. When you come to adding body filler over the resin mix a 5:1 solution of bondo and resin, adding harderner for both obviously. Mix it. This solution will be just think enough to "paint on." It makes the process a lot easier and minimizes high spots to help with sanding. I use rage gold with my projects.
