Pushed my subs too hard?
my 200A alternator is a delco, it was around $450 and like $50 to install. the battery isolator was around 60-75 bucks. my 2nd battery is an SVR deep cycle, but an optima will work the same. i havent upgraded the battery under my hood, but i doubt your pulling the same current i am. Check out pep boys for the battery isolator.
In an ideal situation, you should use 2 of the exact same batteries. (same model, same date of manufacture, same useage age)
And adding a second batt won't do anything to help the car, unless you like to bump your system with the car off. In fact, you'll probably just make things worse. If your alt can't handle charging one batt and running an amp, throwing another load onto it isn't going to help.
I'd work on the new alt before I got more batts, etc. But upgrading the big 3 should be way up on the list. Far before new alts, more batts, caps whathaveyou.

just a little off topic, but since we are talking about fuses...what amp fuse should i get for my setup? i have a....what claims to be a 1200watt pyramid amp (bs im sure, cuz its a cheap *** amp) and two infinity perfect 12.1's. i have a 40A fuse right now...is that fine? should i go higher?
