153.2 decibels? are you joking? your goign to damage your ears and eventually go deaf i can guarantee it. 98 dB is good if you want loud and safe.

It's extremely easy to get up to about 148 or so... after that, increasing DB levels more is much harder. I heard somewhere a guy hit 172.4 db with 2 15" brahmas, but they require so much power to push em that hard.

I guess they wanna get tickets for it. My old audiobahn system that I sold which consisted of 2x 12" Alum12Q's and a 1400 watt amp boasted a nice and loud 151.7 db. But, I wasnt in the car when it was measured because i dont need to lose what little is left of my hearing. I got about 9 noise pollution tickets in the 2 months i've had it.

I dont know how many dB's I'm makin.....but im runnin JL XR components up front and xr coaxils in the back, gettin pushed by a JL 300/4. I have 2 12w6v2's getting powered by a 1000/1. I know its loud and it hits hard! I'll have to get my dB's measured. Can anyone take a guess at what it is???????

FYI a humans threshold of feeling is 118 dB and for a long enough period of time will cause hearing loss, at 140 dB at any length of time exposed to hearing loss will occur

Well keep in mind, those of us who have a high db system dont always bump it at full capacity. At least i dont.

i know, but around here kids love to do it, chances are that 90% of people out there wouldn't be able to sit there fo rmore than 3 minutes at 118 dB, just imagine being with 6 feet of a jet taking off the entire time

I hit 148.7 in my cavalier with a marathon 1600 watt amp. Running it at 1 ohm for a pair of 12" Aftershock subs. I now hit 156.8 with an Earthquake D12 amplifier running 2 ohm for a pair of Atomic subs. Not too shabby. My ears are ****ed up, but from when I was younger and used to bump all the time. Now I hardly ever even have system up even a quarter of the way up unless someone bugs me to show em.

I find tweeters do more harm on the ears than subs, Ive had 3 15's in a 93 ford bronco puming close to 1700 watts. The worst sound was the tweeters, and yes I am a little deaf from all that pounding. 15's just move so much air .

Yeah, I never attempted 15's because of that. I'd be deaf for sure. Tweeters can drive you crazy at any level if not tuned properly!

the decibals u're talking about is a little different from SPL decibals..i forgot how but they are different.

i guess to prove this without calculations or anything is that the threshold of pain for humans is around 120-130 decibals and in SPL comps u go well over that pretty easy..
