Which step first?
Which step first?
K, after getting by for a few months on the stock system, I now am ready to start building up the bumps...where to start? I think the stock head unit will be fine for now, plus I want to wait until the new alpine's with the bass test things come down in price. So should I go with upgrading the internal 4 speaks? Subs? amps and power caps? any recommends would be appreciated..
Usually you will distort (under head loads) if you add more power like and aftermarket head unit and you're still on stock speakers. Our stock speakers are pretty damn decent considering they're all paper, but I'd still replace them first. I don't think it'd be stupid to do the head unit first, but it wouldn't be what I'd do. (Funny cuz I replaced my back speakers and not my fronts yet put in a head unit.) But, for the love of god, make sure the speakers TRULY fit 6 3/4" mounts or you will have to make mounts/redrill. This happened to me, but I liked the speakers so much I decided not to return them. Go Kappas!
I think the stock stereo is decent, and the real difference will be made by replacing the paper dinner plates in the doors and rear deck. That's just me.

well where you start is pretty much all in what you are trying to do. do you just want loud and obnoxious. are do you want just good all around sound. if you want loud and obnoxious you can all ways go with pioneer speakers in the front and rear dash. there the best for the money in most peoples cases. (for starters). if you want good clean sound and plan on spending some money in this then do some research first and see who has what you want for the best price. i would definitly start with the speakers first. there an easy upgrade and if you get something decent you can always add an amp to them later and not have to worry about it. and you can add an amp to those before you buy an headunit you just have to get an adapter and tie in to the existing speaker wires. really easy under the back dash through the trunk. you can also add some bass to it that way with out haveing to change the headunit. good luck and ?'s just ask.
i think i put in 6 1/2" in mine......whatever it sounds great!! anyway, Pimpson......it all depends on ow much $$$ u got...if i were you.....i'd definitely replace the speakers....because when you get a new deck....it will over power the stock speakers and those things will end up melting one way or another, heh....so get some new speakers and hook it up to a nice deck.....if i were u i would check out www.cyberautosound.com ....i got my deck there (Pioneer Premier DEH-P730) for $234 when it JUST came out (retail price was $400) and i got a warranty on it and everything......they got damn good prices, k?
good luck
cool, I'll probably do the 4 speaks first, they are the least cost prohibitive, anybody that wants some good deals should check www.dynamicautosounds.com also, for comp (SPL comp mostly) tell em Jason sent you!!!
