Talking Head unit install w/o the gap

Hey all,
I figured it out, I dont know if anyone else have Im sure so, but if not here you go.
I started to install my deck (after finding out how on here thanks) and notice the trim ring would not go on, I also noticed that every one was having the same problem so I went on a mission to figure it out and did its simple. Look at the mounting brackets and you see to holes and two circles pressed in the same size as the holes torwards the front of the bracket. Take a drill and drill out just about 3/4's the width of the bit in front of the indentations. dont go completely in front of them or it will be to much. (Trust me I had to drill three differant hole to line it up) anyways if you mess up just drill again (It worked there on a kenwood) This will let the player stick out enough to hide the nasty space. Any ?'s pm me will be glad to help.

Mount back to radio and remount radio in car. Put the dash bezel back on and now you should be able to put the trim ring on and not have any gaps at all. No washers or tape or anything. Just good quality craftsmanship.

Umm.....maybe try drilling out the area right next to the hole you drilled already, there should be no problems as long as the head of the screw does not fit through the hole that you drill....if it does, you should not be allowed to touch power tools anyway .

Yup, this was posted a long time back.

Actually, I'm gonna cut the part between both holes. That will make some sort of sliding slot. That way, I'll be able to slide the deck until I reach the perfect spot

I have a new Pioneer deck and I used 3 washers but I needed to get longer screws...but it worked perfect. I wouldn't recommend drilling because it is time consuming and labor intensive. Not worth the time especially if you screw up and need new mounting. The washers are not ghetto and stupid...they work and nobody will ever know.

Yeah fiberglassing is a piece of cake. The hard part is molding your part. Anybody can lay fiberglass.

ok well the way i made my fiberglass piece for my dash for my radio is i took the dash piece out. put foil over it. put resin mixture, then put fiberglass membrane, then more resin, just enough so i have the whole piece covered even the hole where the radio is suppost to go. i let it dry overnight. next morning i sanded it down a bit, and measured precisely where a hole is gonna be for the piece and made a model out of cardoard, i took the cardboard covered it with foil and put it in the new cut hole untill it was snug. then i took some more resin mixture and fiberglass membrane and molded the model untill it looked like it was just sliding out of the dash. i found it quite amusing.

WARNING! get a heavy duty mask with this at lowes or home depot, they are like 27 bucks but belive me u dont wonna breath the resin fumes in. i did for a sec and i kept caughing for days it was so strong. dont by the paper masks get the big mask and some tough chem proof gloves.

oh another good tip, make sure u have ur fibergass membrane cut before u start to mix the resin with hardening liquid.

also always work with gloves and long sleeve shirt and pants, especially when sanding. fiberglass shavings are ITCHY!!!!
