it has begun... new setup

well folks, ever since i fried my lanzar d3000m i've been bump-less for the past few weeks. well, tonight i just ordered myself 2 Infinity Reference series 1210A's. in layman's terms, 2 1300 watt amps so, that's a total of 2600 watts. but, with each amp running about 2.5 ohms, it'll be about 2000 or so watts, RMS that is. anyways, i'm psyched.

and, i ordered a 0-gauge kit and accessories from darvex.com. i can't wait. next week the 18" XXX will be back up and running. and... my rims will be black by then, too. hell yea. i'll keep ya'll posted.... WITH PICS.

Wow Speck... for not flaming you sure sound like you're ripping into him.

His 18" XXX is some of the best in the biz, and I'm fairly certain with 2000wrms he'll be putting up some nice numbers.

As for all your fancy weights and measures, that's wonderful, got a dB slip? Hard numbers? Other than weights? Because I've got a few 42 pound paperweights around here, and I've got a hammer that weighs 60lbs. Doesn't mean it's loud, or sounds good, just means it weighs a lot.

i dunno bout you hank, but i'm thinkin about raising the BS flag on this. your sub weighs 47 pounds, mine weighs 60... so, mine's no lil clunker, either. but, weight has nothing to do here.

so, with audiobahn you hit 155 decibels OUTSIDE the car? honestly, if you really knew a good deal about car audio, i think you'd be familiar with resonant engineering. and, the infinity amps that i ordered just came out in may. so, i'm doubting they're the same ones you used. and, 155 db isn't enough to make somebody go out and change their windows to lexan, or plexiglass in your case.

exactly which audiobahn equipment are you using? amp(s)? sub(s)? the rest of the stereo components?

oh, and btw TeamNexus... let's just say i got a good deal on those amps thanks to a job at circuit city.

good choice i had 2 infinity reference 12s with very little wattage to them, like 400 or so and it sounded pretty good. it might not be 155db, but for the ol lancer i was happy

Is that on a new mic or an old ****ty mic.

If it's an old ****ty mic, that's **** all. 150's were easy before.

BTW, I helped on an install that saw an 18" Beyond Audio Inhuman Quadcoil in a full sized civic with 3200W RMS on it (which isnt much).

It could've been a lot louder, and yet it hit 162.1 on an old mic. It hits 157.7 on a new mic. Still great.

2 15" Memphis PR15's (the cheapest 15's they have) hit 150 in a regular box in a Protoge 5 with 1100W (new mics too)

So btw, your 155db is **** all.

0-gauge kit came yesterday, so i had some fun wiring today. sub is sitting in my friend's living room and my amps arrive tomorrow. here's today's progress:

1. rockford 500s (speaker amp, 125 x 2 @4ohms) & Audiocontrol Epicenter

2. 0-gauge fuseholder

3. 0-gauge wire being stuffed into the stupid pain-in-my-*** grommet

4. box and amprack underneath, so far

enjoy!

Amps are lookin pretty damned sweet Lance... do they run cool enough to run them like that though? You might consider a computer casefan to blow across them, just to get the air moving if you find them running warm... (quite simple, they run on 12v)

Just a thought.

no offence or anything but the system sounds like its gonna be a good setup. However I am not a fan of seeing all those wires all over the place, i dont care how loud it is it still needs to look half decent. You spent all this loot on amps and subs and caps and epic centers and such, spend the $20 on some zip ties, screws, and carpet.

Maybe give him a chance to finish everything. Dont want to hide all the cables and tie them together just to find out that something is not working and then you have to pull everything out again.

Im sure he will spend the time to make it look good.

well, about cleaning it up, i honestly don't even think i'm going to bother. my car has to serve a purpose as well as sound good, but the purpose is to still be able to fit my spare, my tool box, my jigsaw, and my dewalt drill box. the pic that you saw with the cap just sitting there isn't like that anymore. the day i installed it all, i actually tucked my cap up in the little cubby space in the trunk carpet on the left side. but, overall, the only thing i might do in the future is just carpet the box, which i have yet to take any pics of. like i said before, my purpose is more for function than looks.
