Advice on a system that I've bought

I have bought 2 15" Punch Fosgate subs, with a lil 600 fosgate power amp (will change that eventually) my H/U is a Panasonic CQ-HX2083U, (very beautiful head unit) http://www.crutchfield.com/S-XwhIYmz...300#morephotos as well Infinity Kappa 63.5i Series for my rear deck ( I'm not worried about them fitting back there in the back deck because I have trunk in theback and I could go as deep as I want)http://www.crutchfield.com/S-XwhIYmz...08635I&g=52000 but I what i want to know is will they fit inthe front doors? or will have to get a kick panel... errrm Crutchfield swears up and down that it wont work... but i want to prove them wrong... if you guys can help me out here I'll appreicate it. also I've installed my head unit no worries there... it was kind of intresting doing so...

Hey Nevaeh...well, Crutchfield is sorta right. The factory hole is a bit larger than most 6 1/2"s...it's more like 6 3/4". If you can fabricate stuff, you should be able to make an adapter to mount the 6 1/2 in, then mount it to the door. If you don't want to fabricate, they sell adapters on ebay for cheap. In fact, here ya go.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...sPageName=WDVW
Good luck with your system, post some pics when you're done!

Hey black03oz, first things first I really appreicate you taking the time out and looking at it... the thing that I have for you is what is they are worried about is the hole to big for the speaker? or is the door to shallow??? And what does the spacer do? make the hole smaller? or gives the hole a little more clearance? Anyways the HUGE question that is weighing on all my buddiesm minds is will 2 15" rattle my poor lancer a part or will it sound good, heh We'll see, I will post pics as soon as I am complete!!!

About the adapter...it will do both things you are hoping for. Since the factory speakers are a bit larger than most aftermarket 6 1/2s, it will mount in the holes for the factory speakers and give you a slightly smaller (6 1/2") hole to mount your speaker in. It will also give you just a bit more depth. I personally fabricated my own before I found the ebay ones, but they are essentially the same. The mounting depth for my Diamond Audios is 2 1/8" and yours is 2 3/16" you will be fine. Yours will be going about a half inch deeper than mine and I had more than that amount of clearance, so no worries.

About the subs...if you power them adequately, they WILL sound good. Now will they rattle your Lancer to death...well...most likely, yes. I would just recommend some good sound deadening material in your doors and in the trunk to help matters. I'd be careful running an underpowered amp to your subs and cranking up the gain. Just remember, a gain cranked to 11 = distortion...distortion = certain death for your subs.

you can fit 6.5" after market speakers in the doors. I have focal 165 speakers 6.5" all the way around in my car the back fit fine with not alteration at all fronts the fittings had to be shaved slightly but nothing major at all I wouldn't go to the trouble or expence of kick panels unless your really worried about totally fine tuning your system... but with your setup doesn't sound like you will hear them anyway. Also just to warn you when you underpower subs especially large ones the sound quality usually isn't all that great. Assuming you have the stage 1 punch series the subs are meant for 2x the power they will be getting. Just out of curiosity what amp are you running to your Infinities?

The way I was advice to wire it up was the head unit has a mosfet amp on it... 60x4.. I think... I don't remember right off.. but I was told just wire that into the factory and place my infinities in the palce of the factories and the amp off the H/U will do the powering of the speakers... I have a funny feeling it wont work that way... I alway thought you had to have a seperate amp, the speakers I have look alot like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...920933449&rd=1 I don't plan on keeping them ( my parents bought them for me) I am going to sell them and just buy some better ones of just simpley buy better ones...

but with your setup doesn't sound like you will hear them anyway
errmmm you mentioned that I proably wouldn't be able to hear them anyways... if you don't mine me asking how could get around with that?? and you say that they are designed to handle twice the power then my amp is pushing out... what you two recommend?

Well, I read some reviews on the 300s and sounds like it would do the job for one of your 15"s. I found another 300s on ebay...it's cheap now, but there are still 4 days left on the auction. Here's the link....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...sPageName=WDVW

I think you should take one of three approaches: 1) Pick up this ebay amp if the price is right (or another 300s) and run one to each 15". You are also going to need another moderately powered amp to run your front stage. Now we are getting into a lot of power with multiple amps, so you are going to want a HEALTHY supply of power to all of these amps...like 4 gauge power wire (at least) and a stiffening cap wouldn't hurt. 2) Pick up a powerful mono-block amp (in the 800 watt + range) to run your 15"s and use your 300s to run your front stage. 3) Only use 1 of your 15"s and use the 300s to power it. Pick up a clean amp for your front stage (something with around 50 watts + per channel). If you want specific recommendations for a brand of amp, give me a price range that you would want to spend and I'll give you my opinion of what would be good in that range.

#3 is my favorite approach, unless you are set on using both 15"s. The main thing you need to consider is, if you only hit the subs with moderate power, you are going to need a LARGE box to compensate...there goes all of your trunk space. You could keep a box for one 15" under your rear deck, mount your amps on one side of your trunk, and still have some room back there. You are also going to get better balance between your sub-bass and your front stage. I mean, you are still going to have killer low-end, but you might actually be able to hear some vocals too! Plus you are gonna save a few bucks this way...actually, you can sell the other 15" and not be out much (if at all) for the other amp.

I hope this long novel helps you out somewhat. I'm exhausted. j/k.

Hmm okay... front stage being my highs I'm assuming... well one thing I've forgot to mention... I've bought some tweeters... that we want to fabricate into the door right above the handles... they are about a inch... so all thats coming out of that is just highs... and the 3-ways have highs mid and lows... so I have the ranges pretty well covered... you say 1 15 hmmm... the box i have I've already put it in the trunk heh and its take the majority of it lol, well almost allof oit hehe I don't have to worry about anyone taking it lol, I have the speakers facing the Cabin, ermmmm... I'm sure if I use one proably it would sound alot better, I think a set of 12's would sound just perfect in it but thats my opinion.... so let me get a check list straight,
so I have:
2 15 punch series
4 Infinity Kappa Series 3-way 63.5i
2 1in tweeters
300s 600 watt punch amp
Panasonic CQ-HX2083U

I need:
A cap ( err can't spell)
another amp??
perhaps another altenator?? heh
ohh and lots of cable

also how hard would it be get those tweets to fit where I want them to? I think it iwll stock as crap once its done I can't wait Ithink it sgoing to sound awesome you bet I'll post osme pics hehe!

Sounds like you're on the right path. Here's another option for your tweeters....

And here is the finished product...

You could also mount them flush in the A pillars. They sound amazing there by the way. Just a thought.
