can u hook an amp and subs to the stock headunit?

can u hook an amp and subs to the stock headunit?

can someone please help me, i have an alpine v12 500 watt amp and 2 12inch xtant subs and the headunit i have awia (pos) and when i hook the subs to it and all i get a freakin static noise and i know its from the headunit, butanyway my quesiton is can u hook an amp and subs up to the stock headunit? please let me know

yea you can. but, just remember that the rest of your audio system will only reproduce the sound coming from the head unit

It's a goodly bit more of a hassle than using a headunit that has RCA outs too. I wouldn't bother personally. All around sound always comes before bass for me.

yes...you need an in-line converter. it converts the back (or front) speaker signals to RCA.. its like $15

some amps come with a wiring harness that uses regular speaker wire...u could split your rear speakers to have a line going to your amp

thanks everyonw, but instead i decided to just go out a buy a $600 dollar pioneer headunit and all, hopefully hsoudl have my subs hooked up tommorrow or i might just wait until i get my front speakers replaced.

yes i tried it when i first got my knock ...it was coo if u have never had knock before but after riding in other cars wit it...had me thinking so i ended up gettin another head unit...and it sounds alot better quality wise =)

i'm sure it does... i have an amp and woofers but no head unit... i them up cuz i'm waiting for some money to get the head unit
