New Audio System Problems

I just got a new head unit and 4 car speakers from Crutchfield and installed them myself.

I now notice that whenever I turn the system up relativlely loud on tracks with heavy bass, during the bass a light static or clicking noise will play

My friend suggests that this is normal for new stereo equipment and will go away in time

IS HE AN IDIOT, or is this really the problem

any help would be great

Head Unit: KDC-MP225
4 Speaks: KFC-1669s
Thanks

The speakers are distorting, because the headunit is clipping.

Simple solution: TURN IT DOWN.

Better solution: Get an amp.

agreed an amp would give a much better signal to your speakers. most after market speakers need more than the head units are putting out and the amps inside the head units aren't near as good of quality (reason for the clipping) as a good stand alone amp.
