Just wanted to know.

If you ran 87 Octane with the piggyback what would happen? any negative effects? (apart from not going any faster)

Knock....ping.....knock......detonation. The piggyback reduces (leans out) the fuel, so you need higher octane gas to prevent knock. Knock is never a good thing. Thats why you MUST run at least 89 octane gas.

^^ basically what he said... though i'll add the possibility of a KABOOM in there as well.

A motor can only take so much knock... stock lancer pistons won't take it for very long.

Only to a point. Stock ECU will pull timing if it senses too low an octane fuel. Higher octane lessen the likelyhood of that but you can reach a point of diminishing returns too. 89 octane is the happy balance for this tune.

the extra $0.10 per gallon i pay at the pump isn't bad at all. it's worth it for the performance. i dont think anyone w/ version 2 is complaining about the extra cost. i had 91 in my car for a tank and it didn't seem to make any positive/negative difference. nothing noticable on how the car runs btween 91 and 89

Alright alright alright. I installed the V.2 this afternoon and have put ~40 miles on it @ 45 mintues of driving. Idle is still trying to figure it self out. I haven't really gotten on it yet as I wanted to be sure to get the learning process down. It sounds like its still burning rich though. I'm backfiring and my exhaust tip is getting nice an black from the unburnt fuel. I'll try and drive it somemore tomorrow and start pushing it harder to see how it is. Its still a little early for me to give a review, just wanted to give an update - I want this work so bad! Stay tuned.....

Question what ya think?

Day2 of PB 2.0, 90miles later... idle is still bounce between 500-800 (try to die at a stop). Should i up the idle to 900-1000? or give it more time to chill out?

I called RRM this afternoon and they said that it takes about 100 miles for the idle to smooth out. He said that it is common for the car to dip low idling almost to the point of stalling. Mine has done it 4-5 times now.

once the ecu has learned though it should stop doing this... maybe every now and then you get a hickup but not consistantly. If it continues be sure to contact RRM about it.

It should be fine after some good mileage though.
