Lightbulb update

Had the code pulled yesterday. "Random Cylinder Misfire". I was told this could be "bad gas" or maybe the fuel filter is starting to clogged. What do u guys think? My car just broke 60k too, its time for maints anyway. (sorry for the late post, I've been working 70+ hours as of late)

Seems to down to difference between California ECU and Federal. Problem of CEL will be fixed by Friday. But there seems to be install issue with one guy and idle is also easy fix.

Well, I unhooked the piggy this evening and reconnected via soldering. I know I did that right since I'm a first year PhD student in Electrical Engineering I even pulled out the trusty DMM and made sure I had good connections. DMM read about 2 Ohms of resistance which is pretty low if you ask me Everything looks good. Battery was disconnected for about 20 minutes, then I hooked it all back up and started it up. Didn't rev very high (~1500) RPMs, but I was told that thats okay. I let it idle for 10 minutes, then drove it around nicely (all my shifts were before 3500 RPMs) for ~23 minutes. So far so good. I haven't heard any backfiring yet and the idle doesn't seem to have dipped so low. Further driving, then harder driving will reveal the truth. Standby for my second review

Received my PB last week, got it installed on Saturday, and now have over 300 miles on it. No problems at all with the install. The t-connections are just temporary until I can get some time to practice my soldering, it's been a long time.

Car started up perfectly and idled fairly low (1500) for a couple minutes. I went off to take a quick shower and when I got back it was idling normally (600-700). My daughter said the rpms did jump up and down quite a bit for a while, as expected. We had some errands to run so out we went for it's 15 - 20 minute drive time before shutting it off for the 1st time. Restarted just fine, but did die just once while I was waiting at the bank on my daughter and fiancee (restarted normally with no problems). That one stall has been the only "problem" I've had. Every once in a while it does a quick fluctuation between 500 and 1000, but settles right back down to 600 to 700.

As for performance, unfortunately I've been dealing with a cold since last week and right now a Geo Metro going down a hill would feel like hard acceleration. Anyway, the power comes on very smooth and seems to pull very evenly all the way through each gear. I've had to adjust how fast I get my foot back on the accelerator when shifting (I shift pretty quick) because it seems to rev back up a lot faster. I don't have any hard numbers on 0 - 60, but I do know that once I hit the highway on the way to work, I'm reaching 60 in less distance. Also, like someone else mentioned, I've found that the rpm range I have to be in for the car to respond quickly has moved from 3000 down to between 2000 and 2500.

Great job RRM, this is how the OZ should have been tuned from the factory.

I was wondering since I live in Colorado and the only gas they sell that the pump is 85, 87, and 91 oct. Would 87 oct be ok or would I have to use 91 oct.

You'd want to use 91 since these PBs are tuned for 89+.

I think that's what it may have been. I drove the car another 45 minutes (20 miles) today and everything still seems good. I'll start driving it harder now and see how it feels.

You must run the 91 octane. If you run anything less, you run the risk of blowing up your engine (lower octane = more knock + weak internals = KABOOM) So definately for with the 91. Or, if it would be cheaper you can add octane booster to the tank of 87 as long as you are driving the equivalent of 89+.
