Can you post any logs from evoscan? This will help! Are you logging an external wideband? Extremly helpful when tuning, like VERY much needed. Im unfarmilliar with that ROM, is this the tephra v7 EVO rom?
I think the stock evo8 knock multipliers low mid and high RPM's are 18, the single gain is 3, and tripple is 5 i think. But hmmm, if thats how it was dont touch it for now unless you can be sure the knock is false and it is in fact the knock settings. Hows your knock vs load table? At what load do you see the knock, hows your timing and AFR at the time of knock?
It could be pre-ignition, or detonation, both are different. here's a little deff of each just for learning's sake

Detonation occurs when excessive heat and pressure in the combustion chamber cause the air/fuel mixture to autoignite. This produces multiple flame fronts within the combustion chamber instead of a single flame kernel. When these multiple flames collide, they do so with explosive force that produces a sudden rise in cylinder pressure accompanied by a sharp metallic pinging or knocking noise. The hammer-like shock waves created by detonation subject the head gasket, piston, rings, spark plug and rod bearings to severe overloading.
Mild or occasional detonation can occur in almost any engine and usually causes no harm. But prolonged or heavy detonation can be very damaging.
Another condition that is sometimes confused with detonation is "preignition." This occurs when a point within the combustion chamber becomes so hot that it becomes a source of ignition and causes the fuel to ignite before the spark plug fires. This, in turn, may contribute to or cause a detonation problem.
Instead of the fuel igniting at the right instant to give the crankshaft a smooth kick in the right direction, the fuel ignites prematurely (early) causing a momentarily backlash as the piston tries to turn the crank in the wrong direction. This can be very damaging because of the stresses it creates. It can also localize heat to such an extent that it can partially melt or burn a hole through the top of a piston!
Back to topic tho, if you can post logs and such it will help alot man

the 9417 is what 03lances uses, and those knock settings aren't stock I don't think. Stock is like, low 13, mid 18, high 20 with 2 single and 7 triple, I think....but, the real question, is that WOT or low load? What's your knock threshold set to throughout the rpm range?
Yeah, if you're getting knock, check to make sure 3 things....1. your gas is high octane 2. There aren't any crazy bumps in your timing map, like from 7 to 1 in 10 load cells and 3. Your AFR is in the right range, like 11.5 or so, too rich or too lean you can get knock.

once I get internet ill be able to post my logs...I have zeitronix wideband...im not sure what load its at because my evoscan is not reading my engine load for some reason. its constant in the 2k range, but im not WOT...afr was about in the 14-15 range, so obviously im running too lean...how would I go about correcting that? also I dont see the option for knock threshold...

Do your settings match the one in the picture? if so i think there the stock lancer knock sensor settings.Originally Posted by sawulkn

Anyone know if my scaling is incorrect? I cant seem to view the periphery bits correctly, any ideas??

I think I'd like to see your ROM, but for the most part...a more general answer is "load you should be able to log 1byteload since you have the Tephra rom, 9417 had 1byte I think. ecuload ought to work up to 160 as well. If you're saying AFR is 14-15 at cruising speeds, and you're seeing knock in that area, then I may know what the deal is, like mitsu posted the pic of, the knock thresholds are set to a min of 40 since there is rattles and stuff going on in the engine below that I'm thinking.Originally Posted by sawulkn

As far as correcting your lean-ness, it depends, it really depends on what's going on. I'd like to see a log of you driving normal, your rom, and if you are comfortable with pushing the petal a bit and getting into boost, then that too....but I don't know how far along you are in your tuning, or what. I'll pm you my e-mail.

I was wondering that with your rom as well. You may not have those things that are defined....they may just not exist. The more I look at the rom, the more I can tell it's really a lancer rom with as much Tephra stuff put in as can be found.Originally Posted by Mitsu.kid.02

Damn that sucks, i could really use those to disable the rear 02 sensor, i have two codes for the rear 02 sensor that i want to disable it so when i go for inspection it will pass. Hmm, ill do some searching and what not.
Maybe 03lances can define them for me? idk how but he put those tables in my rom for me, maybe he can do the same here?

If anyone can do what you're needing, I bet it's RoadSpike...he spent a lot more time with the lancer rom than anyone else I'm aware of. As far as just "defining" them, I don't know if that's quite as possible as some of the other things were to define. Many of the options are things that don't even exist, I think it would involve a lot of trial/error to determine what each lil bit does. I don't mean that to sound like I'm being positive about the whole thing, but maybe the best solution for now is to put the o2 sensor in, and remove the wideband while you get your car inspected.Originally Posted by Mitsu.kid.02

Well i dont have inspection for a while, but i came accross the bits and was just wondering about them, also the forced pass inspection bit seems to be working, well editable

Yeah, I may have spoken too soon. PLEASE do not listen to anything I say, because I do not have a clue what I am doing.....but if you open your XML, and delete all the stuff that says "Periphery00 0 1 2 3...all that" and paste this into it's place, it seems to work...And what I mean by "work" is it displays properly, but I have no idea if this initiates the self destruct command or what. I mean, seriously, I have no clue what would happen if you changed something....no clue at all, this might change some random bit in your fuel table or god only knows what. If you do try this, and your CEL is on, and then you flash it with that one bit changed for rear o2, and it goes off....then I'd be slightly less scared, but still very worried about what was changed.

Bro could you send me my def file that you have now with these settings in the xml? i tried but my computer is stupid and i keep messin it up some how. Dont worry, im not going to blame any future problems or anything like that on you man Originally Posted by HornstarBU

I mean, seriously, I have no clue what would happen if you changed something....no clue at all, this might change some random bit in your fuel table or god only knows what. If you do try this, and your CEL is on, and then you flash it with that one bit changed for rear o2, and it goes off....then I'd be slightly less scared, but still very worried about what was changed.<!-- *** ECU PERIPHERY *** -->

instead of trying to disable the rear 02 go to the tephra mods option at the top of the rom and enable the rear 02 simulator with a 1 and see if that works

Will do...guys check out these logs...i can go into boost gradually with little knock and good timing, but when i punch the gas and try to go hard accel, the car knocks, take a look and let me know what you guys think? im still working on fuel, its really tough. why cant i accel fast, if i can accel slow with no probs?
