someone needs to hip those boys at Vision Imports about the new deal.... they still think that I'll need a full standalone.... sheesh.

A full stand alone for the manifold?

check the correction: I had RPW at first but it was VI that told me I'd need a standalone. But I don't think they're as obsessed about it as we are

OK, I'm bored at work. Demonstration of why Dave said this. If you can't figure out the problem from these two pictures, god help you...

Yeah, I think it might flow a little bit more air than ours...

========

I question how direct the swap would work, though.

The 4G93 throttle body is like a foot farther towards the driver side than the 4G94 is. If I did the switch, my cold air intake would no longer fit. That would kinda be a downer.

And then there are all the sensors and hoses that we have on out manifolds.... how would we figure that out but I guess it's a moot point until we cn source them

Well, Dave guessed that it's a direct swap. So basically, it's up to someone to get one and try to install it. From the pictures I posted, they look very similar in the hose/wire dept. I wonder whether the stock TB would match up as well, or if we'd have to upgrade that.

Personally, I vote that the guy with the spare engine should test it.

it may flow better, but i do believe its shorter than ours. and that means less low end power but better top end.

Good photo shwoing clearly the difference. The manifolds look different definitly but the 1.8 manifold has virtually the same runner length as the 2.0 when you get down to acutally measuring it.

The vacuem and other hoses aer in virtually identical positions so no prolems there and the 2.0 throttle body uses the sme bolt pattern as the 1.8 so there will be no issues there.

The only thing I can think of is posible accelerator cable which may be different but not 100% certain. Manifold pattern is identical and you may need to use the 1.8 fuel rail with the 2.0 injectors.

But either way that is definitly a way large improvement over the 2.0 manifold for air flow.

ive been reading some info that the 3K GT, 2G eclipse turbo, and the 2.4L galant throttle bodies will fit the 1.8 manifold. if thats true, and if the bolt patterns are the same for the throttle bodies, wouldnt that mean that those would fit the 2.0 manifold?

Theoretically.

If A=B and B=C, then A=C.

But they might not be identical when vacuum lines and wiring become involved.

I'm not seeing the brake boost line on the back of the 1.8L mani.... it should be right next to the TB, on the left side of the Mani..... On the 2.0L it's that hose that goes off to the left into nowhere.... hmm.... that's sorta important
The other sensors and stuff that are on the '94 appear to be on the '93 as well.... and some simple fab would make the throttle cable fit (fit damn you!! )

Anyway, I'm interested to see one, or better yet, put my hands on one and see what can be done.

this is the best thread hijack in the world
