thank you! this is something nice to see. and here i was thinking the g94 mani would be better cuz it looks like it has longer runners, larger throttlebody and a larger collector.

you could probably port for the stock tb(55mm) or find a 1g eclipse tb(60mm).

what other conflicting answers have you heard? i'd like to hear em.

i would have tried the 60mm 1g eclipse tb, but the idle screw thread bracket thingy broke so it was useless. the bolt holes line up so i'd give it a try. it'll definately bolt to a g93 manifold for sure. if you're gonna try, you'll need to make sure you find an idle sensor for the throttle position sensor. you're then gonna have to splice the tps wire harness because i believe the lancer harness has 4 wires, where in the eclipse, 3 go to the tps in the throttle body, and 1 wire goes to the idle sensor. it'll be something like that. it's really cake though and isn't really hard.

2nd option is to go to a machine shop or go through RRM.

60mm 1g eclipse
55mm 2g eclipse
55mm lancer
52mm 4g93 mirage

i think i'll try the g93 manifold and see how it goes too. they would seem easy to get.

2.0L engine with restrictive intake manifold - 120hp

word... great thread hijack... and the '93 IM and 1G TB could be very cheap upgrade for our cars... i bet a much better price then the RRM ported ones.

And they'd still benefit from a good wallowing out Rhyzin- should you find a source for the G93 manis, and if the conversion isn't too involved, let us know. I'd like to give this a try.

dave said the mani itself was the cause of the extra vacuum under throttle.... anybody care to guess what just a 1G TB swap would do?

i think the 60mm 1g would be too big for our system. ive been reading up on the mirage forums and they were having problems with it. id say dont go any bigger than 57mm-58mm, unless you have a larger cam and supporting fuel mods.

Swap - I don't like the idea. On top of rerouting/rewiring some areas, you need a new intake - the larger 4G93 manifold moves the air intake like a foot towards the driver side. We would also need a custom intake (or for pgmike, custom turbo piping). A swap that involved scares me.

I would love to see someone try this out and see what exactly has to be re-routed between wires and intake piping. If this works out, I will deffinatly put this high on the to do list. Good luck guys and keep us up to speed on both the new TB and the possibility of i mani swap.

Blacksheep.

I am not sure if this a 1.8L mirage or not but take a good look at how far out the TB comes. I think the other pictures before distort the length of the manifold due to the angle.

Added in a second one from the RPW site.

Interesting.

Another angle. I may have been wrong.

Porting and polishing is the most effective mod you can do to a motor. Valve job + Port Polish, provides 38 WHP On Lancer (Proven).
