My car has 4g92 (SOHC) engine.. is it possible to swap the head with MIVEC...
If it's possible how difficult is it.. & how much it cost..

It's the same engine code (4G92) but with DOHC, so I assumed that would fit. However, for unlucky-bunch like us in the US who've never experienced MIVEC, I can ONLY guess.

What model year is your Lancer? The first generation (93-96) MIVEC will be easier to find in Australia/New Zealand salvage yards with much lower price. The second Generation (96+) is much harder to find and the price will be higher.

Given that, you will also need the MIVEC engine's ECU and a better fuel system. With all these upgrade, it should not be THAT expensive. (I don't know how much labot cost in your country )

Good Luck

You'd need the belts too. Don't forget the belts!

Don't forget though he's going to want to raise compression a bit to get some more serious power and make sure he's got the orientation (by year as pointed out) correct.

Now, that's the 2nd gen MIVEC, with the timing belt on the right side (or left if you're facing the engine).

Good luck

Here is one site in Australia; however, currently, they have none available. You might want to leave your email address with them.

As far as some of the other links that I have, they're currently down

Good Luck

Don't bother with the mivec engine it is not any where near as good as people beleive and the conversion on your motor woudl require pistons, cylinder head, timing covers and a lot of other mods which you would have to do.

Instead I would personally reomend either upgrade to the 4G93 or the 4G94 engine.

Both would fit right into your car and with decent mods the 93 or 94 will produce more torque and eventually more horsepower than the 92 mivec and for aorund the same price.

If decided to do the swap with 4g94 sohc, do I need to change the ecu or harness? or it can run with my car (4g92 sohc)?
