Talking Kamikaze header is on

I installed this on thursday, but finally got pics taken this afternoon. First of all, when i got it i nearly raped the UPS man when it came and i could NOT open it fast enough. I got the ceramic coated ones and the finish on the collector and down pipe are PHENOMINAL !!! I had my buddy matt over to help but with a bum back he could only help me a little. The removal went pretty smoothly until we came across that wretched bottom left bolt. < boooo > I figured out that if i loosened the power steering belt and removed the two bolts holding the bracket to the block and loosened the mount bolt, i could pry the bracket out of the way enuff to get the bolt off. I found out that you can't just bolt the header together and install it - you gotta install the collector first and then hook up the down pipe. I saw just how restrictive that the old exhaust was. Yikes. well, we finally tightened everything up and started the car. I have to say i am VERY impressed with the gain in performance and i have the second cat delete pipe so the exhaust does sound louder. I took the car out and romped on it - a nice boost comes in about 4000 rpm and pushes you back in the seat a bit. Even tho we took a total of about 3 1/2 hours to do the install - i think this is a worthwhile mod that will reallly free up the breathing of the engine.

I would like to thank my buddy matt and also my 11 year old girl Danielle for helping us tighten the power steering belt. They were a big help and although i prolly could have done this myself, i would have taken A LOT longer.

ok so u say it's sounds louder? Is it bad loud? I heard headers + test pipe makes the exhaust sound whiney, a bit ricey? Is it true? wut kind of catback u got on ur ride?

looks very nice!! that damn left nut can be a pain in the nut.

pickafro - i had rrm header, buschur dp, 2.5" testpipe and buschur catback with no resonator and dynomax muffler and the thing was loud as hell. it was sooo loud that i put the 2nd cat back on (and because i lost a good amount of low end).

i have the rrm test pipe and Greddy cat back. It is a bit whiney on accelleration but i don't think it's that bad. I will prolly keep it this way cuz racing season is right around the corner.

yeah - it was annoying loud IMO. I like my exhaust to be loud .. but a deep loud. With that setup I had, it was whiney, fart can loud. Although it was loud .. the car pulled HARD from 3500+ .. i guess thats the trade off. Plus .. with a straight through system like that, it kinda smelled at intersections :P

yes - the stock downpipe will not fit. Besides, why use it anyways ?? IMO the engine performs SO much better with the header. This mod is a pain in the butt but it is well worth it when you get on the street.
