Custom Exhaust Setup Questions

I have searched the forums for the last couple of days for possible ways to spend my tax refund. I hace decided the best buy would be a custom exhaust setup for my 2003 Lancer OZ. I already have a RMR intake installed, and do not plan to do any other mods except maybe a piggyback.
The system i am thinking about having built was 2.25" piping straight from the cat to a magnaflow muffler. I want performance gains a a loud low sound.
Will this setup give me what i want, or should i seek a different route?
Also has anyone seen a significant difference b/t the Street Series and Racing Series Magnaflow mufflers? THere is a significant difference in price ab $40.00.
Lastly, how much of a difference would having the muffler shop place a 2.5" DP combined with the intake and exhaust system?

I know there are countless exhaust threads but i have read so many and i only have these few questions left to answer. nay help would be great.

buschur racing has a 2.5" catback exhaust with no resonators, so that should be loud. and they also have a 2.5" downpipe which should do a difference because the stock downpipe is really restrictive. there are dynos of these products

i have a custom 2.25" magnaflow catback. it was low and deep up untill i added headers downpipe, then it got ricey. not to mention after the piggy was put in.....the rice sound was longer.

I would suggest if you're going for custom, plus no forced induction in the future to go with 2.25" diameter and put a resonator inbetween the cat and the muffler. That will keep the rice sound down if you decide to go with a high-flow/test pipe/header in the future. Also going with 2.25" will help you retain some of the low end torque.

if i do away with the resonator, and leave everything b/f the cat stock and replace the piping after the cat with 2.25" and magnaflow muffler the sound should be low and loud correct. only if you have headers will the sound start to get ricey, and that is when you want a resonator.

Has anyone seen or read any difference b/t the magnaflow race series mufflers and thier street series mufflers? They both are straight through, and have the same measurements. could the race series make that big of a difference on a n/a car to warrent paying the extra 40 bucks?
any comments would be appreciated.

here are the links to the magnaflow product description, i just now have been able to access this info. from reading these it seems that the street series would be best, but how would the lack of back pressure affect the system? wouldn't the lack of back pressure have a negative affect on torque and a positive affect on hp? i think i am correct on this.

how does the shape of a muffler affect sound and performance? i would prefer an oval muffler because it tucks under the frame better than a round one, but if the shape will have a positve affect on the performance i can live with a little muffler showing.

RE: backpressure. since your heaviest mod is going to be headers, if you don't go above 2.25" tubing, you shouldn't lose much.... but then you're not trying to make a track monster or anything, so if you found something like 2.5" for cheaper, or it worked better with the muffler you chose, it really won't matter. If you were trying to make a racecar, we could discuss exhaust "scavenging" "backpressure" nozzles, etc..... and there's a thread from a while back that discusses those in fairly good detail.
