Bad Gas??
Well hopie was right as usual, on my way home from work and no ticking, no ticking this morning either. I thought it was a little weird too because the sound I was hearing sounded dead on a thrown rod. I don't beat on my car at all and I keep up w/ maintenence. But its gone now, Im assuming that our already noisy lifter were just acting up and being a little louder.
Thrown rod? Is my understanding of that term incorrect? I thought that implied that it broke in half and went flying out the side of the block. Like the RRM drag car, for example.
Weather also has a factor with gas to. If I am correct, in warm weather the gas molecules expand as if hot water, taking up more air space, as in cold weather there is less expansion, so you will put in more gas. That is the scientific way to look at it.

You are right there, but we don't know the exact amount. I dont know how this thread turned into how much gas the car holds. The 02 rally has a 12.5 gallon tank. So i thought I would throw this in.
OKay coming back on topic:
That was also my understanding. When you throw a rod or have a thrown rod, I thought that literally meant you threw the rod out the side of the block. Are we confused here?

sorry for the confusion with "thrown rod", my wifes cougar had a broken rod, (dont ask specifics, the rod was just mangled) and her car sounded exactly like mine was sounding. I didnt mean throwing the rod through the block. ive just always referred to it as thrown.
