exhaust setup options

I recently went to a local dealer in search for a magnaflow cat back exhaust, but they suggested a couple options that would save me money but give similar results they were 1. Remove the furthest back cat (resonator) and replace it with a magnaflow muffler and then put custom piping through the back, or 2. Take off the 2nd cat (resonator) and put custom tubing past the first cat all the way to a magnaflow muffler in the rear. They said that both will be the same cost, but does anyone know how they are different from each other? They told me both would be around $200-250 with labor/parts/piping.

lemme make sure i read that right:
1. use a magnaflow muffler in place of a cat
2. test pipe and magnaflow muffler
is that about right? I believe they are going to be cheaper because they wont be using mandrel bent, fully welded tubing. It's just going to be cheap exhaust tubing. I honestly don't know how much of a difference that makes though.

if you havent gotten an exhaust yet, i would suggest that you just buy the magnaflow, or some other catback. if you have a custom shop do it, it will be cheaper, but they will use some aluminized piping (same used on trucks that you always see rusted holes in). that is what i used to have, and i would have been better off just originally getting a stainless catback. good luck on your decision
