I don't recall what code was being thrown after I installed the headers - it's been too long and I didn't have a datalogger at the time anyway, come to think of it. The more recent codes had to do with wrapping my headers (gave an air temp imbalance code) and this weekend's code was because of a missing EGR valve hose (oops). In any event, I had "CLOOP" readings from the Auterra for both, so eManage would be a no-go.
Using a regular ODBII reader, can you see if you're running Open loop. I've had my Header's cel for a while now, but reading at the previous few post, I'm kinda wondering. My buddy has the code reader, so if there is a way to detect the open loop activity, please let me know.
Engineerboy, I installed an IM as well this weekend. In you "how to", you tell how you can disconnect the hoses off the TB and catch the amount of fluid with a cloth. Well... for people that only swap the IM and NOT the TB, like we did this weekend, you can just leave the TB "hanging" in the enigne bay. Disconncet the TB cable, but leave the hoses on it. Sit the TB on anything in the engine bay, and you just saved your-self a few steps.

That's a good point about the TB. I think I took the whole damned thing apart just so I'd know what I was doing when it came time to swap out other parts. plus you get some more how-to info and pics
I don't have just a code reader, I'm using the Auterra dyno-scan that TSwift was selling a while back. It has a readout that says "CLOOP" when it's closed loop and, well I forget what the open loop says, but I have to get out of the house here in a few, so I'll edit this to reflect what it says when everything's normal.

Let's call my relationship with my Auterra "Love/Hate" It seems reasonable to me, that on a given evening on the same stretch of road under the same circumstances one would be able to get the same HP reading off of this thing.... alas, this wasn't the case tonight. However, I did get a couple that were close, and I'm taking the smaller of the these to make my guesstimate at HP gains from the IM, compared to the last time I went out and took readings (a few weeks ago in prep for installing the IM).
Drumroll please

+10 HP based on the numbers I got from my Auterra. TQ went up too, by about 8. The BEST news is that the graph for both HP and TQ smoothed out, and the curves themselves looked to be larger (power coming on sooner)..... but I can't put the graphs on top of each other, so that's a subjective guess at this point. The graphs were smoother at any rate.
Oh, do NOT bump the rev limiter with the Auterra. Unless you just want to produce HP numbers like "229" and "286" but we all know those are WAY off
For the CEL question, when I'm at idle I get "CLOOP O2" and when I'm on the gas I get "OLOOP Drive" so maybe the o2 sensor CEL doesn't mean anything. I tested the eManage by turning the fuel to -40 and sure enough it killed the engine at idle..... I stand corrected.

well, that's the problem. I know you florida folks have really long, really flat stretches of road that are perfect for this sort of thing. In Washington we have hills all over the place and finding a section where I'm not going up or dwon was actually harder than I thought it would be.
So, throwing out the runs with a uphill or down hill section, and the two rev-limiter runs (229 WHP at 6100 RPM
Riiiiiiight) My variation was about +-5 HP. So I took the difference of the smaller of tonights, and the largest of the last set of runs to get my approx +10 HP. So it's safe to say that if the Auterra is at all accurate (and I do belive it would be if I had a mile or two of cop-less, flat, straight, level, open road) the this is a conservative estimate.

yeah i know how washington is, used to live in shoreline, just outside seattle. hopefully i dont get that kind of variation when i start datalogging in a couple weeks. good to hear these kind of results from teh i mani on an NA , may be worth getting after all since it would probably provide greater gains for me.

congrats on the rather respectable gain. so if i understand correctly, the final consensus on the CEL is that is WILL NOT affect incoming data (emanage or PB) depending on the code it throws of course?

yup yup, if you have the tools to port it, you could probably find someone to powdercoat it for under 100, and you have one helluva cheap and good looking mod

i was reading a "DIY porting guide" and it didn't sound too hard, especially for the IM, since i think you are just porting out to where the gasket lines are. maybe engineer can help clear some of this up, or even right a DIY how to?
Well he does have the stock IM so he could use that and tell us how difficult it is
If you have the time.
Sounds like you are starting to enjoy driving the car in it's present form more now though.
