Is there any gaskets that need to be replaced when doing this project?

From what I read you might as well change the intake manifold gasket while you have it off.
I'm guessing the TB is optional unless you rip it of course. Most have said you have to be careful with the old gaskets.

I priced them both from Mitsu and they are $21 total for both at one dealer I called. Even if you change them it won't break the bank.

That's what I was thinking when I bumped the gasket thread. I checked the RPW site for pricing but I want to make sure.

Shouldnt cost so much for the gaskets, assuming you are just getting two of them. Sounds steep to me.

I might get the RPW ones and those are way more expensive. The dealer price was $14 for the manifold gasket and 6.6X for the TB gasket.

I'm just trying to decide if to go the thermo gasket route since with the price of everything put together it kind of defeats the purpose of a cheaper manifold. I guess though $200 for a ported mani with the extra aid of the thermo gaskets is not too bad though. I only plan on doing one manifold install.

bump

I plan on doing this soon and wanted to be able to get to it quicker. The search took a while. Why isn't this in the How to yet?

Sorry to bump an old thread, but has anyone installed this IM on an 04+ Lancer? If so, did you run into any problems?

04+ has a returnless fuel system so the install would be slightly different.

True, however manifold design is the same between the years. and if memory serves, 04+ owners have the option of converting to a return line style fuel system, this leads me to believe the fuel rail mounting point would also be in the same location. Can someone verify/correct?
