Exclamation ECU Chip actually works??

Ok, here's the scoop. My friend has a Lancer OZ and hes one of those guys that buys random crap for his car from Ebay if he likes it and is under his budget. He bought one of those so called "Performance Chips" for like $50. I told him it was a waste of his money. But he says "Oh well. Help me install it." So being the nice friend that I am, I help him install it. But seriously, I didn't expect the chip to actually work. I looked at the chip and it looked like no ordinary chip you found on Ebay. It actually had 2 USB ports.

Before we installed it, we took his car on a test drive so we know what sort of gains he will or won't make. After we did that, we went back to my place and installed it. It took only 20 minutes to install the chip. We started the car up in the OEM setting for the ECU to recognize the OEM setting. After a couple minutes we shut the car off and switched it to the "Performance Setting." Time to go on a test drive.

The first thing we noticed was the high idle RPM. The stock OEM idle RPM was at like 600-700, but after installing the chip the RPM went up to 1500 and stayed there, never went lower. So here are the test drive results from the first run and the second run.
......................First Run(before install)......................Second Run(after install)
Gear..................RPM................MPH...... ...........................RPM................MPH
Idle....................600..................0.... ...............................1500............... ..0
1st.....................5500...............37..... .............................5500................4 2
2nd....................5500...............57...... ............................5500................63
3rd.....................5500...............78..... .............................5500................8 2
4th.....................5000.............. 95.................................5000........... ......99
5th..................Never went to 5th gear......................Never went to 5th gear

WOW WTF?! I never expected any sort of gain from this Ebay chip. SURPRISE!! The only aftermarket parts he has on his car are Cold Air Intake, Headers, and Exhaust. I'm not going to get one yet seeing I don't completely trust it. I'm going to wait a few months or so and see how his car turns out. I'm just waiting for his car to blow up or fry his ECU or whatever due to the chip. The name of the chip is called "Zero Degrees Performance Chip" and you can find it on Ebay LOL! It even comes with a Warranty!

umm, 2 things.

high idle is BAD very BAD, u do NOT want it to be idling anywhere near that high once the car is warmed up.

and secondly, how can a chip change the gears in your transmission to achieve a higher speed.

sorry if i seem skeptical but it is from ebay and already has 2 problems

There is nothing that can make your car achieve higher MPH at the same RPM besides gearing. I would avoid this mod like the plague b/c it definately does not work and it may damage your motor.

It didn't change the gears. I'm posting how high the RPMs were at each gear and that's how fast we were going. And it doesn't stay at 1500 RPM seeing you can switch it back to stock OEM 600 RPM. This chip hooks up to the MAS. So it's pretty much doing a very tiny bit of forced induction. It's basically tricking the Airflow Sensor or the IAT.

I think that explanation says it all... you hooked up an electronic box and it gave you forced induction

Nice

LMAO, You ARE telling us you changed the gearing because the through the transmission at any one given RPM the wheels can only go one given speed. Sorry to burst your bubble. Just doesnt sound normal. To actually test to see if it works you should go to a dyno and do a run with it in "OEM mode" and one in "performance mode". THat is the only way to REALLY see if there are gains.

the gearing wasnt changed guys, what happend is that the revlimiter was raised slightly. you cant change the gears, but you can change the point that redline occurs and therefore alter the speed in which you can achieve in each gear

not if you are judging speed at the same rpm every time. From what is posted you are saying the car is faster at the same rpm.

I don't trust it. Something that makes your car idle that high is just going to break something worth a lot more than $50. Its like the guy on here who decided to remove all the honeycomb from the MAF since he thought it was restricting the air.

Well seeing that it's a lancer with just intake, headers, and exhaust, you can't really feel the difference in pulling. Well at least I can't tell.
